Abiotic Factor: Anomaly Guide

Abiotic Factor: Anomaly Guide

Written by Michael Owen | Abiotic Factor

Anomaly is a rare, mysterious crafting material in Abiotic Factor tied to plant mutations, gadgets, and mid-to-late-game farming upgrades. It’s lightweight but limited by decay, so store or use it quickly after collecting.

How to Get Anomaly

Anomaly comes from interacting with Nocturnal Anomalies: glowing floating entities often seen near plants at night.

There are two ways to harvest it:

  • With a Test Tube equipped: Guaranteed to collect

  • Without a Test Tube: Very low success rate

Despite the in-game message claiming you get 2 per catch, it only grants 1 Anomaly per interaction. This is likely a UI bug.

Crafting Recipes

Anomaly is used in several science and farming upgrades.

Decay and Stack Info

  • Weight: 0.2

  • Stack Size: 32

If you store Anomaly too long, it degrades into empty Test Tubes. Use refrigeration or crafting to preserve it.

MarionPartial Organ3 Anomaly

Final Blurb

Anomaly is one of the weirdest yet most essential items in Abiotic Factor. Its use spans farming, crafting, and advanced gadgets. Always carry a Test Tube when traveling at night. Get them early, use them fast, and don't waste them by letting them decay in your inventory.

FAQ

How do I collect Anomaly safely?

Equip a Test Tube and interact with a Nocturnal Anomaly at night.

Can I farm them repeatedly?

Yes, but they only spawn at night and in specific plant-heavy areas.

What happens when Anomaly decays?

It turns into a single Test Tube. No partial refund, no warning.

What’s the best use for it early on?

Use it in T1 or T2 farming upgrades, or trade to Marion if you need Partial Organs.

Why does the game say I get 2 Anomaly?

That’s a bug. It always gives 1, even though the UI says 2.
