Abyssus Best Weapons & Guns Tier List (Updated)
The best weapons in Abyssus are Tesla Gun, Combat Bow, Plasma Launcher, and Fish Deity. Tesla Gun is the safest overall pick, Combat Bow is the best all-around weapon, Plasma Launcher has the strongest explosive room-clear ceiling, and Fish Deity is the best weird high-damage option once you understand its goo and stab setups.
Most players should use Tesla Gun or Combat Bow if they want consistent clears. Plasma Launcher and Fish Deity are better once you know how to build around them, while Brine Revolver and Disc Thrower are strong but less forgiving. Engine Rifle, Harpoon Gun, and Shotgun are usable, but they are not the weapons I would recommend for serious push attempts unless you specifically enjoy them.

Abyssus Weapon Tier List
This Abyssus weapon tier list ranks every current weapon by room clear, boss damage, scaling, ease of use, and how much support the weapon needs from Blessings, Forge Mods, Charms, and Soul Wheel bonuses.
| Tier | Weapons | Best Use |
|---|---|---|
| S Tier | Tesla Gun, Combat Bow, Plasma Launcher, Fish Deity | Best overall weapons for strong clears and scaling. |
| A Tier | Brine Revolver, Disc Thrower | Strong weapons with more specific strengths. |
| B Tier | Engine Rifle, Harpoon Gun | Usable weapons that need more work to match top picks. |
| C Tier | Shotgun | Playable, but too limited compared to stronger options. |
The current weapon list includes Engine Rifle, Shotgun, Tesla Gun, Brine Revolver, Disc Thrower, Combat Bow, Plasma Launcher, Fish Deity, and Harpoon Gun. The player starts with Engine Rifle and unlocks the rest through progression, secrets, challenges, and other weapon-specific requirements.
If you still need any of them, use our Abyssus all weapons unlock guide before worrying too much about the tier list.
Best Overall Weapon In Abyssus
The best overall weapon in Abyssus is Tesla Gun.
Tesla Gun is the easiest top-tier weapon to recommend because it clears rooms well, keeps pressure on enemies, and does not require perfect aim to be useful. In a roguelite FPS where messy rooms can end a run fast, that matters more than raw boss damage.
The main reason Tesla Gun stays so strong is consistency. It can spread damage, handle packs, and stabilize bad rooms better than most weapons. Even if another weapon has a higher ceiling with the right build, Tesla Gun is the one I would trust most often.
Use Tesla Gun if you want the safest answer.
Best Beginner Weapon In Abyssus
The best beginner weapon in Abyssus is Combat Bow, with Engine Rifle as the easiest early fallback.
Engine Rifle is fine while you are learning. It is simple, steady, and does not ask you to understand a special gimmick. The problem is that it rarely feels like the best weapon once stronger options are unlocked.
Combat Bow is the better long-term beginner pick because it scales into a real carry weapon. It can handle rooms, bosses, and elites without relying on the perfect explosive setup or a strange playstyle. If you want to improve without overcomplicating the game, Combat Bow is the weapon I would move toward.
If you do not have it yet, use our Abyssus Combat Bow unlock guide.
Best Boss Weapon In Abyssus
The best boss weapons in Abyssus are Brine Revolver, Combat Bow, and Fish Deity.
Brine Revolver is the cleanest boss weapon if you can aim well. It hits hard, rewards accuracy, and works especially well against enemies where single-target damage matters more than crowd control.
Combat Bow is the safer boss pick because it also performs well before the boss. You are not giving up your whole run plan just to kill one target faster.
Fish Deity has the highest weird-damage appeal. Its goo and stab setups can shred enemies, but it is less comfortable than Combat Bow or Brine Revolver. If you like aggressive weapons and do not mind learning a stranger kit, Fish Deity is worth it.
If you are chasing secret boss clears specifically, pair your weapon choice with our Abyssus secret boss guide so you are not building for the wrong problem.
Best Room Clear Weapon In Abyssus
The best room-clear weapons in Abyssus are Tesla Gun and Plasma Launcher.
Tesla Gun is the consistent room-clear pick. It is strong because it helps control fights even when the room gets ugly. That makes it better for most players than a weapon that only shines when the perfect upgrades appear.
Plasma Launcher is the explosive ceiling pick. With the right bonuses, it can wipe rooms fast and make groups feel trivial. The catch is that it depends more on setup than Tesla Gun. When Plasma Launcher gets the right pieces, it feels ridiculous. When it does not, it can feel less smooth.
If you want reliable clears, pick Tesla Gun. If you want explosive snowball runs, pick Plasma Launcher.

All Abyssus Weapons Ranked
Tesla Gun
Tesla Gun is the best overall weapon in Abyssus.
Its main strength is room control. You do not need perfect shots, and you can keep pressure on groups while moving. That makes it one of the best weapons for staying alive in chaotic expeditions.
Tesla Gun is not always the best pure boss killer, but it is strong enough against bosses and excellent everywhere else. That balance makes it S tier.
Combat Bow
Combat Bow is the best all-around weapon in Abyssus.
It scales well, handles bosses, and stays useful in rooms without needing an overly specific build. It can feel plain at first, but once upgrades start coming together, it becomes one of the most dependable weapons in the game.
This is my favorite recommendation for players who want a strong weapon that still feels skill-based and controlled.
Plasma Launcher
Plasma Launcher is the best explosive weapon in Abyssus.
Its biggest strength is how hard it scales with area damage, extra projectiles, explosion bonuses, and control effects. When the build comes together, Plasma Launcher can delete rooms faster than almost anything else.
The downside is consistency. It is still S tier, but it is more dependent on the right setup than Tesla Gun or Combat Bow.
Fish Deity
Fish Deity is the strongest strange weapon in Abyssus.
It does not play like a normal gun, which is exactly why some players underrate it. Goo and stab setups can create huge damage, especially when you build around close-range pressure and enemy control.
The problem is comfort. Fish Deity can feel awkward if you want a clean ranged weapon. If you enjoy weird high-ceiling weapons, it belongs in S tier. If you want the safest pick, use Tesla Gun or Combat Bow instead.
If you still need the weapon, use our Abyssus Fish Deity unlock guide.
Brine Revolver
Brine Revolver is one of the best single-target weapons in Abyssus.
It is strong against bosses and high-health enemies because it rewards precise shots. If you are accurate, Brine Revolver can carry hard.
The reason it is A tier instead of S tier is room control. It does not clean up messy rooms as easily as Tesla Gun, Plasma Launcher, or Combat Bow. It is powerful, but less forgiving.
Disc Thrower
Disc Thrower is strong, but it asks more from the player.
Its radio-controlled discs give it a unique rhythm. If you understand the weapon, it can do excellent work. If you are new or overwhelmed, it can feel clunky compared to the safer S-tier options.
I would not call Disc Thrower weak. It is just more specific. Use it if you enjoy controlled projectiles and are willing to learn the weapon.
Engine Rifle
Engine Rifle is the best basic weapon, but it is still basic.
It is reliable for early runs and good for learning Abyssus. The heat-style management and steady firing make it easy to understand without being useless.
The issue is ceiling. Once you unlock better weapons, Engine Rifle usually becomes a comfort pick instead of the strongest option.
Harpoon Gun
Harpoon Gun is fun, but it is not one of the safest top-tier weapons.
Its combo system gives it a different identity from the rest of the weapon pool. That makes it interesting, but also less immediately reliable than Tesla Gun, Combat Bow, or Plasma Launcher.
Harpoon Gun may be worth using if you like combo weapons and want something different. For serious push attempts, I would use a more consistent weapon unless you already know the Harpoon setup well.
Shotgun
Shotgun is the weakest weapon for most players.
It can work, especially after buffs and with the right close-range setup, but it still asks you to play near danger without giving enough payoff compared to stronger weapons.
That does not mean Shotgun is unusable. It just means I would not recommend it over Tesla Gun, Combat Bow, Plasma Launcher, or Fish Deity unless you specifically enjoy close-range play.
How To Change Weapons In Abyssus
You change weapons at the Workbench in the Lobby before starting an Expedition.
The Workbench lets you equip weapons, change primary and secondary fire modes, and preview skins. This is important because you can only carry one weapon at a time. Your weapon choice is not a side detail. It shapes the whole run.
If a weapon feels weak, do not judge it only by the default version. Some weapons change a lot once you unlock better primary and secondary modes.
How Weapon Modes And Gold Skins Work
Each weapon in Abyssus has three primary modes and three secondary modes.
Those modes are a major reason tier lists are not perfectly fixed. A weapon can feel average with one setup and much stronger with another. Plasma Launcher, Fish Deity, Disc Thrower, and Harpoon Gun especially depend on how their modes and Forge Mods come together.
Collecting all six modes for a weapon rewards a unique golden skin. That is a good completion goal, but it does not mean you need to use every weapon for serious clears.
For long-term progression, Soul Wheel bonuses can also improve your weapon power. If you are still building that out, use our Abyssus Soul Wheel guide.
Which Weapon Should You Use?
Most players should use Tesla Gun, Combat Bow, or Plasma Launcher.
Use Tesla Gun if you want the safest overall weapon. Use Combat Bow if you want the best balance of boss damage, clear speed, and control. Use Plasma Launcher if you want explosive room clears and do not mind building around it. Use Fish Deity if you want a strange high-ceiling weapon that rewards aggressive play.
Brine Revolver is the best pick if your main problem is boss damage. Disc Thrower is worth learning if you enjoy its projectile control. Engine Rifle is good early. Harpoon Gun is for players who like combo systems. Shotgun is optional and mostly for close-range fans.
My recommendation is simple: learn with Engine Rifle, unlock Combat Bow and Tesla Gun as soon as you can, then try Plasma Launcher or Fish Deity when you want stronger build-specific runs. Do not waste serious push attempts forcing Shotgun unless you just love the weapon.
