There are 145 achievements in Age of Empires IV (AoE 4). Some are quick. Some are painful. And some make you ask, "Wait, what do I have to do?"

Let’s break down the mess into useful chunks. This guide will help you chase the ones worth chasing, avoid the ones that make you cry, and maybe learn a thing or two along the way.

Easy AoE 4 Achievements

You barely have to try. Great for warming up or pretending to be productive.

  • A New Age Is Upon Us — Complete the tutorial. Press a few buttons. Win.

  • Empires Will Rise — Build your first Landmark. You literally can’t avoid this.

  • Recorded History — Watch a replay. Pretend you’re scouting weaknesses. You're not.

  • Accurate Likeness / To Remind, To Advise, To Warn — Equip a portrait or monument.

  • Customize Your Coat of Arms — Mash colors together. Call it “art.”

Campaign Achievements

There are four base campaigns, each with a pile of story missions. Finish them and collect:

  • The Normans

  • The Hundred Years War

  • The Mongol Empire

  • The Rise of Moscow

  • Age of Empires IV Campaign — Finish all of the above.

Most mission-specific achievements are simple if you're already doing a full playthrough. Look out for:

  • Twinkle Hooves — Don’t lose any Mangudai. Good luck.

  • Boom Boom Pao — Protect your siege toys.

  • Keep the Change — Pay off the Mongols in under 3 minutes. Speedrun it.

Victory Type Achievements

Just winning isn’t enough. Win in style:

  • By Force / By Faith / By Fortune — Win with Landmarks, Sacred Sites, or Wonder.

  • Make It Quick — Win in the Dark Age. Cheese an AI with a scout rush.

  • Wonderstruck — Build a Wonder, no walls allowed. Bold strategy, Cotton.

  • Walk the Earth — Sacred victory, no lost religious units. Babysit them hard.

Art of War Challenges (The Sweat Zone)

Earn medals by completing training missions with specific goals. Gold is hard.

  • Challenge Taker — First gold medal.

  • Record Breaker — Five gold medals. Brag rights unlocked.

  • The Ottoman/Malian Arts — Gold medals in DLC Art of War missions.

Mastery Achievements

Each civilization has 15 mini-objectives. Complete them to earn:

  • Master of the [Civ] — For each one: French, English, Mongols, etc.

  • Master of the Ages — Finish all of them. This will eat your life.

AI Smackdow

  • Sub-Human Subduer — Beat Easy AI.

  • High-Human Hero — Beat Hard AI.

  • Super-Human Subjugator — Beat Hardest AI. Bring tissues.

Civ-Specific Achievements

Each civ has their own bizarre, oddly specific goals. A few highlights:

  • Lancerlot (French) — Charge with 50 Royal Knights at once.

  • Herd You Like Elephants (Delhi) — Crush 100 buildings with elephants.

  • Jagutu-iin Darga (Mongols) — Buff 100 units with a Khan. He’s very encouraging.

  • Great Walls (Chinese) — Build 1,000 stone walls. Brick by brick.

  • Just a Prick (Malians) — Kill cavalry with poisoned arrows. Ouch.

  • Overflow (Byzantines) — Build 10 Cisterns. That's a lot of water tanks.

Naval & Trade AoE 4 Achievements

  • Coast Is Clear — Win a game using only fishing for food.

  • All Creek, No Paddle — Sink a fully loaded transport ship. Oops.

  • Master Naval Trader — Have 20 trade ships running during a mission.

Ridiculous but Glorious Achievments

  • Wololottery — Convert 25 units in one go. Requires planning or luck. Or both.

  • Having a Blast — Kill 5 with one demolition ship. You only get one shot (literally).

  • Get Off My Bailey! — Keep Mongols out of your city. Easier said than done.

DLC-Specific Achievements

New factions, new pain.

  • Ottoman Expansion / Malian Rise / Win for the Empire — Just win once as each.

  • Transcontinental Empire / Protecting Constantinople — Win 20 times as each. Woof.

  • Daimyo Mastery — Research all Town Center upgrades (Japanese).

  • Knife to Meet You — Kill 50 with Earl's Guards using throwing daggers (Knights DLC).

Final Blurb

Some achievements are straightforward and others are deeply cursed, but if you chip away at the campaigns, Masteries, and Art of War, you’ll already be halfway to glory.

Now get back in there and start building your wall of gamer clout—one pop-up notification at a time.
