In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, you can do more than sneak, stab, and swing a katana—you can romance a few characters along the way. Both Naoe and Yasuke have unique love interests, and yes, you can pursue all romance options without it affecting gameplay—or causing any drama. There’s no penalty for picking multiple romances, and even Canon Mode won’t block your shot at love.
Let’s break down who you can woo, and how to make it happen.
Romance Options for Naoe
Gennojo
You first meet Gennojo in the mission “Missing Missive” (he’s not exactly charming at first—you fight him).
After the quest “Lost Honor”, you can respond to his flirtation with “You might be right.”
This unlocks his romance questline, starting with “Sake and Swords.”
You’ll bond over fighting injustice (and sharing rice), culminating in the quest “Stolen Hearts.”
The romance ends with mutual respect and Gennojo joining your cause—not a fairytale ending, but a meaningful one.
Katsuhime
Meet her in “Showdown in Sakamoto”, where she immediately tests the romantic waters.
Follow up in “Letter From Katsuhime,” which leads to rescuing her kidnapped mentor.
Afterward, she invites Naoe to Wakasa Beach for “The Jounin Pillow Book” quest.
This ends with a full romantic commitment—Katsuhime is considered Naoe’s canon romance.
Romance Option for Yasuke
Lady Oichi
First met during “An Education”, Lady Oichi shows early interest. Respond with “some company might be nice” to keep the flirt alive.
You reunite in “A Talk With a Lady” and again during “A Prayer For Omi.”
Choose “I would spend my last night with you” for a key romantic moment.
Though she says “it can never be,” their bond deepens throughout the story.
In “The Wheel Turns,” take her to the game’s cat island for one final romantic quest, ending with Yasuke waking up covered in cats—you can guess what happened the night before.
Final Blurb
Assassin’s Creed Shadows keeps things simple when it comes to love: follow the heart icons, say the right things, and enjoy the journey. Whether it’s Naoe’s beach getaway or Yasuke’s sunset with Lady Oichi, each romance adds a bit of warmth (and chaos) to your adventure through feudal Japan.
