If you’re trying to craft gear, tools, or just figure out what the heck to do with that mysterious flax you picked up, welcome to the club. Crafting in RuneScape: Dragonwilds isn’t exactly explained well, and the game doesn’t hold your hand. At all.
But once you figure out how it works, it’s pretty satisfying. Here’s a simple guide to get you started crafting in the game.

How Crafting Works
Crafting is unlocked by simply... doing stuff. There are no skill trainers or menus to walk you through it. If you want to learn how to make something, you’ll need to:
Pick up an ingredient
Unlock its recipe
Build the correct station
Experiment from there
Once you gather a crafting material for the first time, it might unlock related recipes. But the actual process is trial-and-error, especially in early game.
Basic Crafting Setup
Here’s the setup most players will need early on:
Spinning Wheel (build it at your base)
Use this to turn Flax into Coarse Thread
Crafting Table
Use this to make gear like bows, arrows, and armor
Example (Bow Crafting):
Gather Flax from the field near Bramblemead Valley
Build a Spinning Wheel and place it under a roof
Turn Flax into Coarse Thread
Take Coarse Thread + Ash Logs to your Crafting Table
Craft an Ash Shortbow
It’s not complicated—it’s just buried under zero explanation and a bunch of walking.
No Recipe List? No Problem
Most recipes unlock automatically when you find a new material. But if you’re lost:
Open the Build Menu (B key) to check for stations
Use the Crafting Table to scroll through craftable items
Check what’s greyed out—that usually means you’re missing a single item
And remember, no recipes will show up until you pick up the key ingredients. So don’t just wait for crafting prompts—go exploring, loot everything, and recipes will start popping up.
Final Blurb
Crafting in Dragonwilds is all about stumbling forward with a handful of logs and hope. There's no tutorial, no recipe book, and no helpful ghost whispering in your ear. But once you figure out the station flow and unlock some recipes, you’ll be able to gear up without a problem. Just don't expect a magical crafting menu to walk you through it—this isn’t that kind of game.
