Image Credit(s): Eleventh Hour Games, Last Epoch

If you want to blast through the campaign and feel like nature's wrath in bear form, this is the build for you. It’s fast, tanky, and turns the battlefield into a tornado playground.

Main Gameplay Plan for Primalist Build in Season 2.0

  • Start with Swipe and Summon Thorn Totem to handle early game.

  • At level 10, switch to Tempest Strike for more damage.

  • As soon as Tornado unlocks, make the change — this is your bread and butter for the rest of the game.

  • Eventually, you’ll spec into Unending Storm inside the Werebear Form tree — now your Tornado casts while you rampage around like a storming bear.

  • Use Warcry off cooldown for buffs.

  • Rotate between Werebear Form and Human Form during boss fights to unload max damage.

Stat Priorities

Offensive:

  • Chance to Ignite, Bleed, and Poison (early game)

  • Increased Cast Speed

  • Cooldown Recovery Speed (after level 35)

  • Strength (boosts armor + spell power in Werebear)

  • Increased Spell and Lightning Damage

  • Tornado and Tempest Strike skill level

Defensive:

  • Health > Health Regen

  • Physical Resistance (priority)

  • Endurance and Vitality

  • Frailty, Slow, and Chill Chance

  • Dodge or Armour (whatever you get more of)

Gearing Step by Step

Starting Setup:

  • Focus on Health and Physical Resistance

  • Get a Staff with Bleed or Ignite Chance

  • Look for Silver Rings (movement speed) and a Jade Amulet (boosts damage)

Early Setup:

  • Use Avarice Gloves + Living Seed for leech

  • Equip Noble Sash for more mana and better Tempest Strike

  • Farm quests that give early passive points:

    • Evacuation – Last Refuge

    • Ezra’s Ledger – Ezra’s Library (also drops Avarice)

    • Upper District – more passives

Intermediate Setup:

  • Prioritize Copper Amulet for flat spell damage

  • Start chasing Idol slots from quests:

    • Ancient Hunt, Corrupted Lake, The Sapphire Tablet (idol + passive rewards)

  • Stack Cast Speed and Spell Damage

  • Make use of Opal Rings once available (level 52) for Cooldown Recovery

Final Setup:

  • Core gear pieces: Kolheim Armor, Bone Amulet, Spidersilk Sash, Solarum Greaves

  • Focus on Tornado damage and staying in Werebear Form

  • Key side quests:

    • Heoborean Cure and Liberating the Nomads (for final idol slots)

Unique Priorities

If you're lucky, grab:

  • Rune of Ascendance – try it on boots for early Unique

  • Keep an eye out for any gear with Cooldown Recovery, Spell Damage, or Cast Speed

Key Tips

  • Press C to check your level, and Tab to view area levels — stay within 5 levels of the zone

  • You don’t need every item drop — filter for good affixes and base types

  • At level 40+, buy gear from towns is no longer reliable — start relying on drops and crafting

  • Craft Health, Vitality, and Resistances using Rune of Shattering or Rune of Removal

  • Your weapons matter a ton — keep upgrading them often

  • Once you reach Chapter 7 and complete key quests, jump into Monolith of Fate

What’s Next

After finishing the campaign, move into Empowered Monoliths, farm Dungeons, and dive deeper into the loot grind. You’ll be a fully storm-fueled werebear with a thirst for bigger challenges.

Final advice? Don’t forget to maul responsibly.
