Blue Prince: Laboratory Puzzle Guide

The Laboratory in Blue Prince houses one of the most important puzzles in the game—and one of the weirdest. To unlock the Blackbridge Grotto, you’ll need to solve a cryptic message hidden in the periodic table, power up a massive machine, and pull the right levers in the right order. No pressure.
Step 1: Find the Clues
Inside the Laboratory, look for two things:
A blank periodic table with numbers (on the bulletin board, near the lever machine)
A filled-in periodic table (on the wall above the microscope)
These two pieces are the key to decoding the message.
Step 2: Solve the Periodic Table Puzzle
Take the numbers from the code sheet and match them to their atomic symbols using the full periodic table
Then, arrange those atomic symbols to form a sentence
Once you space them out properly, the message reads:
PUSH THREE UP AFTER NINE
That’s your answer—but don’t rush to the machine just yet.
Step 3: Power the Machine
The lever machine won’t do anything unless the room is powered.
You need to route power from a Boiler Room to the Laboratory
This can be done by placing a Boiler Room nearby, or connecting it through steam ducts
The ducts only work if both rooms have them—examples include:
Security Room
Archives
Once steam is flowing into the Laboratory, the machine wakes up.
Step 4: Pull the Levers
Now that everything’s online:
Pull Lever #9
Then pull Lever #3
That’s it. If powered correctly, this will unlock the Blackbridge Grotto—a new permanent addition that gives you access to one offline terminal per day.
Final Blurb
The Laboratory puzzle is a little science, a little steam, and a whole lot of lever-pulling anxiety. But once solved, it unlocks one of the best perks in Blue Prince. So study up, follow the numbers, and maybe keep a finger on Lever #3—just in case.
