Deltarune Chapter 5 Walkthrough: Festival Day Route

Deltarune Chapter 5 Walkthrough: Festival Day Route

Deltarune Chapter 5 starts with a short Kris house sequence, then moves into Castle Town, a Susie and Ralsei scene, and the Festival Day route with Noelle and Susie. If you are trying to progress, the main path is: make honey toast for Toriel, go to the school, enter the Dark World, finish the Castle Town scenes, return to Hometown, walk with Noelle and Susie, enter the opened festival gate, then continue to the beach.

I would treat Chapter 5 less like a dungeon rush and more like a town route with important character stops. The chapter gives you a lot of small conversations, awkward pauses, and optional festival flavor, but the actual progression usually comes from checking the newly opened path or talking to the character the game just placed in front of you. P.S. Some pictures coming soon!

Chapter 5 Route Cheat Sheet

Part Progression Step Do Not Miss
Kris’s house Grab the heart, use the toaster, and give Toriel the honey toast Wait for the toast to finish before leaving

School Enter the black door to reach the Dark World The route opens after the Hometown setup
Castle Town Meet Ralsei and Lancer, then climb through the wall puzzle The falling bars can reset progress
Castle Town scenes Design Susie’s dress and visit Ralsei’s room The dress choice appears to be flavor, not a fail state

Opening House Sequence

The first goal in Deltarune Chapter 5 is to finish the short house sequence with Toriel.

After Kris lands in the room, grab the heart and move into the next room. The game asks you to make honey toast, so use the toaster nearby and give it a few seconds. Once the toast is ready, bring it to Toriel to finish the scene.

There is no hidden trick here. The only part that can trip someone up is leaving too quickly before the toast finishes. Use the toaster, wait it out, hand over the food, and let the conversation play.

Toriel then talks about surprising Asriel, which pushes the chapter out of the house and into Hometown. Once you have control again, leave the house and start moving toward the school route.

Hometown Before The School

Before entering the Dark World, Chapter 5 gives you a small Hometown route with optional dialogue and family tension.

From the house, follow the town path toward the school. Along the way, you can stop for the Flower King conversation. It is not required for movement, but I would listen to it on a first run because it gives more context around Toriel, Asgore, money, and the awkward family situation underneath the festival setup.

The main progression target is still the school. Go through town, head to the school, and look for the black door. That door is the chapter’s handoff from normal Hometown movement into the Dark World section.

If you feel like nothing is happening in town, do not wander randomly forever. The school is the important destination after the toast scene.

Castle Town Checklist

Castle Town is the first real reset point in Chapter 5, and the important steps are meeting Ralsei and Lancer, clearing the wall puzzle, then moving through the Susie and Ralsei scenes.

Use Castle Town to check anything you care about before the route continues. The shop is available if you want items, and the cafe lets you check in on recruits. These stops are useful, but they do not seem to be the main blocker for progression.

The route through Castle Town is:

  1. Meet Ralsei and Lancer after entering the Dark World.
  2. Go inside the castle and clear the wall puzzle.
  3. Continue until the mysterious helper scene plays.
  4. Check the shop, cafe, or recruits if you want to prepare.
  5. Head north when you are ready to continue the story route.

The biggest mistake here is assuming Castle Town is only a menu stop. It has progression scenes tied to it, so keep moving through the castle path before returning to Hometown.

How To Clear The Falling Bar Puzzle

To clear the falling bar puzzle in Chapter 5, climb patiently and move only when the falling bars leave a clean gap.

The puzzle is simple, but it punishes rushing. If a bar catches you, the climb can reset partially or fully depending on how far you have gone. That makes speed less important than rhythm.

Watch the pattern first, then move in short bursts. Do not try to force a climb through a gap that is already closing. Wait, climb, stop, and repeat until you reach the top.

My rule for this kind of Deltarune puzzle is to stop treating every second like a race. Losing five seconds to patience is better than losing the whole climb to one greedy movement.

Susie And Ralsei Scenes

After the puzzle, Chapter 5 shifts into a lighter Castle Town character sequence with Susie, Lancer, and Ralsei.

Lancer eventually asks you to design a dress for Susie. Choose whatever option you like. This appears to be a personality and comedy choice rather than a serious route decision, so do not restart over it unless you just want a different reaction.

After that, continue to Ralsei’s room with Susie. The room starts empty, and Susie promises that she and Kris can help fill it. When the game gives you the chance to comfort Ralsei, the clean response is to encourage him to be himself.

Susie’s first decorating contribution is a garbage bin, which is dumb in the exact way the scene needs. The important part is that the chapter is showing Ralsei trying to understand what his own space should be, while Susie solves the problem like Susie.

Noelle And Susie Route

After leaving Castle Town, return to Hometown with Susie and meet Noelle outside the school.

This starts the Noelle and Susie walking route. Kris becomes the guide, and the chapter lets the two of them follow while the town festival setup opens around you. Do not run around expecting a battle route here. This stretch is mainly about talking, walking, and triggering the next town scene.

Head south from the school area and find Noelle’s dad working on the Town Hall decorations. Talk to him and ask about Noelle’s mom if you want the extra family detail. The conversation helps explain why Noelle’s home life keeps pressing into what should be a fun festival day.

After that, start looking for the festival entrance. The important change is that a black gate near the festival becomes available after the route has moved forward.

How To Find The Festival Gate

To find the Festival Day route, go toward the gate marked “Festival,” then check left for the black gate that opens after progressing with Noelle and Susie.

This is the easiest place to get mildly lost because the gate is not useful earlier. If you checked the area before and it seemed closed, go back after the Noelle and Susie route starts. Chapter 5 changes the town path as scenes progress.

Once the black gate is open, go through it to reach the larger festival area. From there, you can check the stage side, the voting area, and the path toward the beach.

I would not skip the festival stops on a first run. The main path is not hard, but the chapter gets a lot of its personality from the festival being more than a hallway with decorations slapped on it.

Festival And Beach Sequence

Inside the extended festival area, check the side activities first, then continue right to reach the beach scene with Susie and Noelle.

Going left takes you toward the stage and comedy act. Going right lets you cast a vote for Festival King and Queen, then continue out of the festival area. The beach is the next major story trigger.

The beach scene starts playful, with Susie messing with Noelle’s phone, but it turns into one of the more important Susie and Noelle moments in the chapter. Let the scene play instead of treating it like a quick transition.

The mood changes when Noelle learns her father has fallen from a ladder. By the time Susie returns, Noelle has already left. That moment is the current route’s sharp turn from festival awkwardness into real family concern.

What To Do If You Are Stuck

If you are stuck in Deltarune Chapter 5, the missed step is usually a conversation or a newly opened town path.

Use this checklist before assuming something is broken:

  • If you are stuck at home, use the toaster and give the honey toast to Toriel.
  • If you are stuck in Hometown early, go to the school and enter the black door.
  • If the wall puzzle keeps resetting, slow down and move with the falling-bar rhythm.
  • If Castle Town feels empty, head north after checking the shop, cafe, or recruits.
  • If you are back in Hometown, meet Noelle outside the school and follow the town route.
  • If the festival path seems blocked, return after checking Noelle’s dad near Town Hall.
  • If you are in the festival area, explore both sides and then go right toward the beach.

The main thing to remember is that Chapter 5 does not always progress through combat or obvious puzzles. A lot of the early route advances through scenes. Talk to the nearby character, check the path that changed, and move back toward the festival when the town opens up.

For this section of Chapter 5, the clean route is house, school, Castle Town, Susie and Ralsei, Noelle outside school, Town Hall decorations, opened festival gate, festival area, and beach. If the next scene is not triggering, you probably skipped the latest conversation instead of missing a secret item.
