Ghost of Yotei How to Drink Sake

Ghost of Yotei How to Drink Sake
Ghost of Yotei

Drinking sake in Ghost of Yotei restores Spirit and adds a bit of flavor to Atsu’s journey. It’s not just for roleplay either, as several missions and hidden objectives only activate when Atsu is drunk. If you missed the in-game tutorial or forgot which button to press, here’s the full explanation on how to drink sake and where to find it.

How to Drink Sake in Ghost of Yotei

Hold down on the D-Pad to drink sake.

Atsu will instantly consume a jar, restoring 1 to 2 Spirit. Each drink increases his level of drunkenness, which makes the screen blur and tilt until the world looks like it’s underwater.

A second drink deepens the effect, while a third makes Atsu vomit and the screen fade to near-gray. The effect fades over time, but it’s best not to chug three in a row unless you enjoy chaos.

Atsu can carry up to two jars of sake at once. Trying to hold more gives an error. You can check your current stock by opening the Inventory and scrolling to Resources.

Once consumed, sake becomes an empty jar. These jars can’t be refilled, but you can throw them to distract or stagger enemies. One trophy, Wolf Bait, even requires killing a wolf using an empty sake jar.

How to Get and Find Sake

Sake appears in camps, houses, and any civilized outpost across Yotei. If there’s human life nearby, there’s a decent chance of finding it. In enemy camps, most jars are empty unless you have the right armor.

You can also buy sake from vendors in Ainu camps and larger hubs. Each jar costs 10 copper. Most merchants carry three at a time, and their stock refreshes later.

Snake Skin Armor Sake Buffs

The Snake Skin Armor adds unique sake-related effects for players who own the Digital Deluxe Edition. It can make the experience more useful than just a drunken blur.

When equipped, empty jars have a chance to be full instead. Thrown sake jars also explode into a poisonous cloud on impact. This armor makes sake a tactical weapon instead of a novelty.

Final Blurb

Drinking sake in Ghost of Yotei isn’t just a gimmick. It restores Spirit, opens special quest paths, and can even turn into a combat trick when used right.

Keep a couple jars ready, use them smartly, and maybe don’t overdo it unless you like seeing double.
