How to Start Greyroot’s Quest

Greyroot is found in Shellwood, near the exit to Bellhart. Enter the hut and speak to her cocoon form until she emerges. After some cryptic dialogue, you’ll gain the option to “Promise Wish.” This begins the Rite of the Pollip quest.

Accepting the Wish sets you on a hunt for six Pollip Hearts scattered across Shellwood.

All Pollip Heart Locations

Pollip Heart 1: Near Greyroot’s hut, climb northeast to the top ledge and destroy the large purple flower.
Pollip Heart 2: In the southeast room before the Bellfort exit, wall-jump up to reach purple flowers along the wall.
Pollip Heart 3: In the room above Greyroot’s hut, drop to the left platform and attack the flower.
Pollip Heart 4: Northeast Shellwood, climb floating platforms over water, wall-jump up, then head left to the flower.
Pollip Heart 5: In a tall room lined with white bulbs, bounce upward using them to reach the flower at the top-left. The Heart falls, so collect it before leaving.
Pollip Heart 6: In the passage between Shellwood and Greymoor, head left through the spiked chamber and drop to the bottom-left to find the final flower.

After collecting all six, return to Greyroot to complete the Wish.

Rite of the Pollip Reward

Greyroot rewards Hornet with the Pollip Pouch, a Blue Tool. When equipped, it poisons all your other tools. This effect stacks with many offensive tools, turning your kit into a damage-over-time machine.

The Slug Baby and the Root Curse

Greyroot’s story doesn’t end with the Pollip Pouch. Later in the game, you can deliver a strange slug baby (found in Bilewater through the Whispering Vaults) to her. Doing so triggers a much darker outcome.

Greyroot wraps Hornet in roots, forcing the Root Crest onto her. This crest cannot be removed at benches. While active, it blocks healing and disables other crests and tools. Healing attempts only trigger root animations that waste silk.

Players cursed by the Root Crest must seek a cure in Greymoor:

Travel to the far top-left of Greymoor.
A bell-shaped building normally blocks entry, but with the curse active you’re admitted.
Inside, an NPC begins a follow-up quest to remove the root infection.

Completing this event frees Hornet and advances Greyroot’s grim storyline.
