Hollow Knight Silksong Lifeblood Guide: Plasmium Buds

Hollow Knight Silksong Lifeblood Guide: Plasmium Buds

Lifeblood makes its return in Hollow Knight: Silksong, though in Pharloom it goes by the name Plasmium. This mechanic is tied to a quest in the Wormways, where Hornet is tasked with gathering Plasmium Buds for Alchemist Zylotol. Completing the quest rewards you with the Plasmium Phial, a tool that works like Lifeblood in the original game, giving Hornet extra temporary masks of health.

How to Start the Lifeblood Quest

To begin the Lifeblood quest, you first need a Simple Key. The easiest one is sold in Bone Bottom for 500 Rosaries. You’ll also need the Cling Grip ability to navigate Wormways properly.

Head west of Mosshome until you reach the entrance to the Wormways. Past two large cages hanging in a gap, continue left until you find a locked door. Use the Simple Key to open it. Inside, climb upward through the Wormways until you reach Alchemist Zylotol, who gives you the quest to collect three Plasmium Buds.

Plasmium Bud Locations

First Bud

The first Plasmium Bud is found in the chamber directly below Zylotol. Equip the tool he provides at the nearby bench and head down to collect it. Watch out for worms bursting from the ground and ceiling. These can damage Hornet, but they can also be used to regen if you’re low on health.

Second Bud

The second bud is near the base of the Wormways where the area starts blending into Moss Grotto. Head east and then down until you see the green moss environment. At the end of a short corridor, you’ll find the bud. There’s also a shortcut here that links back into Moss Grotto, making travel easier.

Third Bud

The final Plasmium Bud is located in the southwest chamber of the Wormways. Move left from the westmost entrance until you find the bud near the far wall. Collect it to complete the quest objective.

Lifeblood Rewards: Plasmium Phial

Return to Zylotol with all three Plasmium Buds to receive the Plasmium Phial. This is a red tool that gives Hornet one extra mask of temporary health when activated.

The Plasmium Phial has three immediate uses and draws from a reserve of 20 charges. Sitting at a bench refills the phial from your reserve. Once the reserve is empty, you can revisit Zylotol for a paid refill using Rosaries.

This makes the Plasmium Phial a powerful survival tool, especially in boss fights, acting as Silksong’s version of Lifeblood masks.

Final Blurb

Lifeblood in Hollow Knight: Silksong is reimagined as Plasmium, obtained through Zylotol’s quest in the Wormways. By gathering three Plasmium Buds, you unlock the Plasmium Phial, a tool that provides temporary health masks. It’s a direct callback to Lifeblood from the first game and an essential survival option in Pharloom.
