How to Find Gas Sites in EVE Online

Gas sites are locations in EVE Online where players can harvest valuable gas clouds used for creating boosters and Tech III production. Here’s how to find them step-by-step:
Step 1: Train the Right Skills
To scan and harvest gas sites you’ll need the following skills:
Astrometrics (minimum Level 1, higher levels help with faster scanning).
Gas Cloud Harvesting (Level 1 is enough to start; higher levels allow you to use more gas harvesters).
Step 2: Get the Right Ship and Equipment
Ship: Use a ship with bonuses for scanning like:
Heron (Caldari)
Magnate (Amarr)
Imicus (Gallente)
Probe (Minmatar)
Tech II exploration ships like the Astero or Buzzard are also good options.
Equipment:
Core Probe Launcher
Core Scanner Probes
Gas Cloud Harvesters (for harvesting the gas)
Step 3: Go to the Right Space
Gas sites spawn in different types of space:
Highsec: Limited and low-value gas clouds. Look in Gallente space for Mykoserocin.
Lowsec/Nullsec: Higher-value gas clouds.
Wormholes: Best place for rare and high-value gas clouds used in Tech III production. Be cautious of player threats.
Step 4: Use the Probe Scanner
Equip the Core Probe Launcher and load your Core Scanner Probes.
Launch your probes in space.
Open the Probe Scanner window (shortcut: Alt+P).
Scan the system for signatures. Gas sites will appear as Unknown or Combat signatures initially.
Step 5: Identify and Warp to Gas Sites
Narrow down the signature using your probes by adjusting the scan radius.
Once identified, the gas site will display as a Gas Site.
Warp to the site and check for:
Gas clouds ready for harvesting.
Hostile NPCs (some gas sites spawn enemies like Sleepers in wormholes).
Step 6: Harvest the Gas
Fit Gas Cloud Harvesters to your ship.
Approach the gas cloud within 2,500 meters.
Activate the harvesters to collect gas.
Final Gassy Tips
Wormholes: Use a cloaking device to stay safe from players and NPCs.
Bookmarks: Create bookmarks in gas sites for quick escape or return.
Safety: Constantly check your directional scanner (shortcut: D-scan) to avoid player ambushes, especially in wormholes or nullsec.
Profitability: Research gas types to know what’s valuable. For example:
Mykoserocin is common in highsec and lowsec.
Fullerites are found in wormholes and are very profitable.
And that’s it—Happy hunting!
