How to Fix FPS Issues in Marvel Rivals

So, you’re playing Marvel Rivals and the game is stuttering like it’s stuck in slow motion. One second you’re swinging in as Spider-Man, the next—slide show. Good news: it’s not just you. Even strong PCs are having FPS issues thanks to some wonky game optimization.

Let’s see if we can fix it.

Quick Fixes for More FPS (No New Hardware Needed)

  • Yes, your PC is probably fine.

  • Yes, the game just needs help.

  • Some heroes (looking at you, Doctor Strange) cause FPS drops when they start doing their flashy portal stuff. It’s a thing. Until NetEase fixes it, you can tweak settings to smooth things out.

In-Game Settings That Help FPS

  • Go to Settings > Display
    Use these settings:

    • Display Mode: Full Screen

    • Resolution: 1920x1080

    • Anti-Aliasing: DLSS (Nvidia) or FSR (AMD)

    • Super Resolution Mode: Quality

    • Sharpening: 80

    • Frame Generation: Off

    • Low Latency Mode: Nvidia Reflex (if you have Nvidia)

    • Limit FPS / V-Sync: Both Off

  • Graphics Settings:
Hit Optimize first, then adjust these:

    • Global Illumination: Low

    • Reflections: Screen Space Reflections

    • Post-Processing: Low

    • Shadow Detail: Low

    • Effects / Foliage Quality: Low

This cuts down on all the flashy stuff that tanks your framerate.

Windows Settings for More Frames

  • Set Marvel Rivals to High Performance:

    • Go to Windows Settings > Display > Graphics

    • Find Marvel Rivals, click it, hit Options, select High Performance, save.

  • Turn Off Xbox Game Bar:

    • Go to Windows Settings > Gaming > Game Bar

    • Turn it Off

  • Turn On Game Mode:

    • Still in Gaming settings, go to Game Mode

    • Make sure it’s On

Game Bar hogs resources—ditch it. If you want to record gameplay, use OBS Studio instead.

Update Your Graphics Drivers

Old drivers = bad frames.

  • Nvidia users: Open GeForce Experience, update there.

  • AMD users: Use Adrenaline Edition to update.

Bonus Fix: Check Your Monitors

Some players found second monitors mess with display settings. If full screen won’t work or your resolution is stuck, try unplugging the second monitor and re-launch the game. One player did this and doubled their FPS.

Final Blurb

FPS stutters in Marvel Rivals? Super common. Super annoying. But with a few setting tweaks and a little Windows cleanup, your game can go from PowerPoint to buttery smooth. Now get out there and portal dodge like a pro.
