Eggs in Hytale are obtained from chicken coops, not from feeding chickens or waiting for animals to grow. You must capture chickens, place them into a coop correctly, and then wait for the coop to generate eggs over time. Breeding and animal growth systems are not fully implemented yet.
The Short Answer On Getting Eggs
You get eggs by placing captured chickens into a chicken coop. After a few in game days, the coop will produce eggs automatically. Chickens do not lay eggs freely in the world and feeding does not speed this up.

Eggs are produced passively by the chicken coop.
Eggs generate every few in game days
No feeding or interaction is required
The coop handles production automatically
Eggs will appear in or around the coop depending on current build behavior.
Preventing Chickens From Escaping
Chickens spawning on the roof is a known issue.
To reduce escapes:
Move the coop at least 1 block away from fences
Double stack fences behind the coop
This prevents chickens from hopping over barriers.
What About Animal Poop And Fertilizer
Animal waste systems are not implemented yet.
Animals do not produce poop
Fertilizer cannot be crafted from animals
Feeding benches exist but have no usable UI
