How to Repair Armor in Oblivion Remastered

Have you been adventuring across Cyrodiil, taking hits like you're made of steel, only to realize your armor is falling apart? Welcome to Oblivion Remastered, where even the best gear turns into scrap if you ignore it long enough.

Here’s how to keep your armor looking less like a pile of rusty metal and more like actual protection.

Two Ways to Repair Armor

You’ve got two options when your armor starts looking sad:

  1. Use Repair Hammers

Grab a Repair Hammer, open your inventory, and fix it yourself. Hammers are easy to find—buy them from blacksmiths, loot them from chests, or pick them up in dungeons. But fair warning: if your Armorer skill is low, expect to break a few hammers along the way.

  2. Visit a Blacksmith

Too lazy—or too clumsy—to repair it yourself? Head to any major city and pay a blacksmith to do it for you. It’s quick, but your gold pouch will feel lighter afterward.

Why You Should Repair Armor Yourself

Paying a blacksmith is easy, but fixing your own gear is where the real benefits are:

  • Every time you repair something, your Armorer skill goes up.

  • At 25 Armorer, you unlock the ability to fix enchanted gear.

  • Hit 50 Armorer, and you'll break fewer hammers while repairing faster.

  • Reach 100 Armorer, and you can push your armor’s durability to 125%, making it tougher than when you first found it.

You can also pick up broken armor from bandits, repair it for free skill boosts, then toss it on the ground like the trash it is. Easy Armorer training without risking your good gear.

How to Repair Enchanted Armor

Enchanted armor is picky. You can’t repair it until you hit 25 Armorer. Even then, your hammers will break more often because the game treats your skill as slightly lower when fixing magical gear.

If you're deep in a dungeon and your shiny enchanted chestplate is falling apart, pray you packed enough hammers. Otherwise, make friends with a blacksmith when you're back in town.

Final Blurb

If you're serious about surviving in Oblivion Remastered, keep your armor above 80% durability. Nothing says "easy target" like busted gear. Stock up on Repair Hammers, level that Armorer skill, and save your gold for more important things—like bribing guards after "accidentally" stealing bread.
