OSRS 1-99 Fishing Guide (2025)
Written by Andrew Hammel
This OSRS fishing training guide covers the best methods for leveling Fishing from 1 to 99. It includes fast XP, AFK options, and money-making methods for all playstyles.
Fastest OSRS Fishing Training Methods
Levels 1 to 24: Questing
Do Sea Slug. It gives over 7,000 experience and skips all early training.
You can also do Fishing Contest and Freeing Pirate Pete to reach level 27. Fremennik Trials and Tai Bwo Wannai Trio can take you to level 33, but they have more requirements.
Levels 20 to 58: Fly Fishing
Use a fly fishing rod and feathers to catch trout and salmon.
The fastest method is 3-tick fly fishing with swamp tar and herbs. Without tick manipulation, it’s slower but still solid from level 30 onward. Good spots include Barbarian Village and Shilo Village.
Levels 47 to 99: Drift Net Fishing
Unlocked after Bone Voyage.
Train Fishing and Hunter at the same time using drift nets in Fossil Island’s underwater cave. Use flippers, diving gear, and stamina potions. You’ll need 44 Hunter and 47 Fishing.
Levels 58 to 99: Barbarian Fishing
Use a barbarian rod and feathers at Otto’s Grotto.
At level 58, you unlock leaping salmon. At 70, you can catch leaping sturgeon. 3-tick methods give fast Fishing, Agility, and Strength XP. Use cut-eat fishing if you want passive Cooking XP too.
Levels 71 to 99: 2-Tick Harpooning
Use a crystal harpoon and aggro rats in Port Piscarilius or use a PvP alt in the Fishing Guild.
This is the fastest fishing training in OSRS with up to 130k XP per hour. Very click-intensive.
Low-Effort OSRS Fishing XP Methods
Levels 35 to 99: Tempoross
Fight the fishing boss for fast, low-effort experience.
Best with a crystal harpoon. Avoid cooking fish during the fight for more XP. Has pet chance and rewards like the Fish Barrel.
Levels 62 to 99: Monkfish
Requires Swan Song.
Use a small net at Piscatoris. Profitable and simple. Around 42k experience per hour at level 99.
Levels 65 to 99: Karambwan
Use a karambwan vessel and raw karambwanji.
Very AFK. Catch rate improves with Fish Barrel and good teleports. Around 40k experience per hour and solid profit.
Levels 82 to 99: Minnows
Fish in the Fishing Guild with full angler gear.
Trade minnows for sharks. XP is slower, but profit is good. Requires level 82 and Fishing Contest.
Levels 82 to 99: Anglerfish
Fish in Port Piscarilius using sandworms.
Low click rate, up to 39k XP per hour. High profit per hour, especially if cooked.
Levels 85 to 99: Dark Crabs
Fish in the Wilderness Resource Area after the elite diary.
Very low effort but risky. Use the Fish Barrel and bank when full. Up to 40k XP per hour with high GP.
Levels 87 to 99: Sacred Eels
Fish at Zul-Andra using bait.
Cut them for Zulrah’s scales. XP is low, but profit is strong if your Cooking level is high.
OSRS Fishing XP With Bonuses
Use the angler outfit for 2.5% bonus experience per fish.
Use Rada’s Blessing from the Kourend diary to catch double fish.
Use a Fish Barrel (Tempoross reward) to hold extra fish while fishing.
Final Blurb
This OSRS fishing training guide gives you all the main paths to level 99, whether you want speed, profit, or simplicity. Use questing to skip early levels, then choose your pace from there. Barbarian Fishing and Tempoross are favorites for most players, but every method listed works well in the right setup.
