OSRS Grid Master Chaos Altar Guide | Safe Spots, XP, Tips
Old School RuneScape (OSRS)

Thinking about using the Chaos Altar for your Prayer grind but don’t want to get dropped by griefers? You’re in luck. There are several Chaos Altars that work exactly like the Wilderness version but without the risk.

How to Use Chaos Altars with Golden God

After unlocking Golden God, you can offer 20,000 gold at certain altars to gain Prayer XP equal to using a dragon bone. The spell respects altar XP modifiers, so Chaos Altars give a massive 3.5x boost. Each offering gives over 2,000 XP, and there’s a chance your gold isn’t consumed.

You don’t need bones or level requirements for this method. Just stack gold, find a Chaos Altar, and start offering.

Prayer Training Guide for Grid Master

All Safe Chaos Altar Locations

These Chaos Altars all work the same way as the level 38 Wilderness altar but without PvP danger.

  • Chaos Temple north of Falador (Asgarnia)

  • Ourania Cave entrance southwest of Ardougne

  • Black Knights’ Fortress

  • Underground Pass

  • Level 11–12 Wilderness Chaos Temple near elder chaos druids (technically Wildy but safer than level 38)

The Varrock Chaos Temple doesn’t give boosted XP, so don’t waste time there. Most players use the Ourania Cave or Falador altar since both are easy to reach and completely safe.

Why It Works Better Than Bones

Regular altars have no modifier, so they’re slower and costlier long term. Chaos Altars, on the other hand, multiply XP and can even save some of your offerings. That makes gold offering far more efficient than traditional training.

With the 5x event XP boost, you’ll level Prayer incredibly fast. Players report getting over 2,000 XP per tick, which stacks with other Grid Master perks like Combatant links.

Best Routes and Safety Tips

The safest Chaos Altars are right outside major teleport hubs.

  • Ourania Cave: teleport to Ardougne or use the spirit tree near the Khazard Battlefield

  • Falador: easy walk from the city teleport, minimal risk

  • Underground Pass: accessible if you’re already questing nearby

Avoid the level 38 Wilderness altar unless you enjoy chaos. Even though you don’t lose items in Grid Master, you’ll waste time dealing with griefers.

Final Blurb

Golden God completely changes Prayer training in Grid Master. Offering gold at Chaos Altars is faster than bones, cheaper than supplies, and safer if you use the right locations. Stick to the Ourania Cave or Falador altars for the best XP rates and leave the Wildy altar to the thrill seekers.
