OSRS Leagues 6 Skill Capes Guide
Skill capes work a little differently in OSRS Leagues 6 because several normal cape sellers are in regions you cannot access, while the max cape has its own exception through Yama’s Lair. That is why this question keeps coming up. Hitting 99 does not automatically mean every skill cape is available. In Leagues 6, the cape depends on where that cape seller actually is.
Can You Get Skill Capes From Regions You Do Not Own In OSRS Leagues 6
No, you cannot claim most skill capes from regions you do not own in OSRS Leagues 6, and if the cape seller is in a locked region, that skill cape stays unavailable.
That is the key answer. The max cape is the big exception. You can buy that from the Leagues Tutor in Yama’s Lair, which is why it is available across all region setups. Regular skill capes do not work the same way. If the master for that skill is in Kandarin, Asgarnia, Karamja, Desert, or another locked region, you need that region unlocked to buy the cape.
For Magic specifically, the answer is simple. The Magic cape requires Kandarin because Wizard Sinina in the Wizards’ Guild is the seller. If Kandarin is not unlocked, there is no alternate claim option for that cape.
Why The Max Cape Works Differently
The max cape is handled separately from the normal skill cape sellers. In Leagues 6, the Leagues Tutor in Yama’s Lair sells the max cape directly, so it is not locked behind the usual master locations. That is why it can be bought even in setups that cannot buy several individual 99 capes.
That creates a weird but important split in actual play. A run can reach 99 in a skill and still miss the normal skill cape because the region is locked, but later still buy the max cape if every skill is maxed. The game is checking the cape source, not just the level itself.
Which Skill Capes Are Actually Available In Leagues 6
Skill capes in Leagues 6 fall into 3 groups. Some are fully available if you unlock the correct region. Some are unavailable because their normal master is in inaccessible content. The max cape stands alone because Yama’s Lair bypasses all of that.
Here is the clean breakdown from the current region list:
Available with the right region unlock:
Agility, Karamja
Attack, Asgarnia
Construction, Varlamore
Crafting, Asgarnia
Firemaking, Kandarin
Fishing, Kandarin
Fletching, Kandarin
Herblore, Asgarnia
Hitpoints, Desert
Hunter, Kandarin
Magic, Kandarin
Mining, Asgarnia
Prayer, Asgarnia
Ranged, Kandarin
Slayer, Karamja
Smithing, Asgarnia
Strength, Asgarnia
Thieving, Asgarnia
Unavailable in this league:
Cooking
Defence
Farming
Runecraft
Woodcutting
Always available if fully maxed:
Max cape through the Leagues Tutor in Yama’s Lair
This is the part a lot of people miss. Getting 99 is only half the requirement. The cape seller still has to exist in content your run can actually reach.
Best Skill Capes To Care About In Leagues 6
Not every available skill cape is worth planning around. Some perks barely matter in this league, while others still have real use.
The Construction cape is one of the best examples of a cape that stays useful. It gives unlimited teleports to your POH and house portals, which still has real movement value even in a mode with strong travel tools. Since Construction is connected to Varlamore, it is one of the easiest capes to actually get on many runs too.
The Crafting cape is also strong if Asgarnia is unlocked. Unlimited Crafting Guild teleports stay useful for banking and skilling flow. Prayer, Smithing, and Thieving also have solid practical perks when Asgarnia is already part of your route.
Magic and Ranged are the big Kandarin capes people tend to look at first. Magic only pays off if other spellbooks are unlocked. Ranged stays broadly useful because the ammo saving effect has value across a lot of builds.
Some capes are much lower priority. Agility loses a lot of value because natural run drain is gone in Leagues 6. If a cape perk solves a problem the league already removed, that cape becomes much less important.
Magic Cape In Leagues 6
The Magic cape in OSRS Leagues 6 requires Kandarin. There is no Yama’s Lair shortcut for it, and there is no region free fallback seller. If Kandarin is not part of your build, you cannot buy the Magic cape even after hitting 99 Magic.
That is worth noting because the Magic cape is one of the skill capes people actually care about in Leagues. Its perk gives 5 permanent spellbook swaps per day, which is useful only if your run also has access to another spellbook through Desert, Kourend, or Fremennik. Without one of those spellbook regions, the perk does almost nothing.
So the real value check is not just “do I want 99 Magic.” It is “did I unlock Kandarin, and does my build also have other spellbooks worth swapping into.” If the answer is no, chasing the Magic cape specifically is much less important.
What Usually Confuses People About Skill Capes In Leagues 6
The main confusion comes from the max cape exception. People see that the Leagues Tutor can sell the max cape in Yama’s Lair and assume other missing skill capes might have a similar hidden option. They do not. Regular skill capes still depend on their normal region based master.
The second thing that trips people up is assuming 99 alone unlocks the purchase. In Leagues 6, the level is only one part of it. Region access is the other part. A locked region means a locked seller, and a locked seller means no cape.
The third problem is overvaluing capes whose perks do less in this league than they do in the main game. Before planning a whole region around a cape, it is worth checking whether the perk still changes anything important in your run.
Final Blurb
Skill capes in OSRS Leagues 6 are region locked unless the cape is the max cape. If the master for that skill is in a region you did not unlock, you cannot buy that skill cape. Magic cape needs Kandarin, so there is no way to get it without Kandarin. The clean way to think about skill capes this league is simple, check the seller first, then decide if the perk is actually worth building around.
