Old School RuneScape (OSRS)

This leveling guide gives you the full path from level 1 to 99 Sailing so you always know where to go next and which activities push your XP the fastest.

OSRS Sailing Best Training Methods

Levels 1 to 7

Complete Pandemonium in Port Sarim to unlock your raft and your basic Sailing controls. Start running courier tasks between Port Sarim and The Pandemonium since they give quick XP and early upgrade materials. Sail through every ocean encounter you see such as glows, winds, castaways, lost goods, clue turtles and Ocean Man.

Each one rewards free Sailing XP. Begin sea charting as soon as you board your raft because every chart point gives a one time XP bonus and every completed charting zone gives extra rewards. Reach level 7 to unlock your second courier task slot which speeds up early leveling.

Levels 7 to 15

Run two courier tasks at the same time between Port Sarim, The Pandemonium and Musa Point once you reach level 10. These short routes fill your cargo with logs, nails and gems while giving steady XP. Finish Prying Times at level 12 to unlock the crowbar which opens more charting tasks.

Chart every new sea you enter since each zone adds a chunk of XP. Push to level 15 and buy the skiff right away because it gives better speed, more space and facility hotspots.

Levels 15 to 30

Attach a salvaging hook to your skiff and start shipwreck salvaging. Move next to a wreck, use the hook and pull salvage into your cargo for XP and upgrade materials. Keep running courier tasks as filler between charting and salvaging routes. Continue sea charting across new zones since each completed area gives extra XP.

Finish Current Affairs at level 22 for another XP burst and an upgraded charting tool set. This pushes your routes into deeper seas with smoother travel. Level 30 unlocks bounty tasks and your first Barracuda Trial.

Levels 30 to 55

Start bounty tasks to earn XP by hunting sea creatures. These tasks send you across multiple oceans and pair well with charting progress. Begin The Tempor Tantrum at level 30. This trial needs an oak hull, oak masts, linen sails and an iron helm. Complete each difficulty tier once for big XP boosts. The trial rewards storm keys, Ralph fabric rolls and the barrel stand which you need to build a keg. Deep sea trawling becomes strong here.

Track a shoal on the map, sail over it, deploy the trawling net and keep your ship aligned while a crewmate collects fish. This gives hybrid Fishing and Sailing XP. Rotate bounty tasks, salvaging, charting, trawling and trials through the entire level range.

Levels 55 to 72

The Jubbly Jive unlocks at level 55. This trial has tighter routes and faster timing windows than the first. It rewards fetid keys, Gurtob fabric rolls and captured wind motes. The wind mote helps you build a wind catcher or gale catcher which boosts trimming and helps long trips stay fast.

Your upgraded ship now reaches deeper wrecks, wider seas and faster trawling paths. Keep running bounty tasks, salvaging, trials and trawling to move toward level 72.

Levels 72 and Beyond

The Gwenith Glide unlocks at level 72 and is the top tier Barracuda Trial. Its Marlin rank rewards Gwyna fabric rolls and the heart of ithell which is used to build the crystal extractor. At this stage your boat can chart full oceans, salvage deep wrecks, run advanced bounties, trawl fast moving shoals and clear all trial tiers.

Keep rotating each method to finish your final levels with steady XP.
