Runescape Dragonwilds Mounts Guide | Terrorbird Mount
Mounts finally exist in Dragonwilds, but the first real one is locked behind Fellhollow. It looks cool, it moves a bit faster, and it glides a little, but it is also made of wet tissue paper. Here’s how the whole system works right now.
How Mounts Work in Dragonwilds
The Terrorbird (or as some spell it the Terror Bird) is the only confirmed mount at the moment. You unlock it through a short quest in Fellhollow, and you can summon it from your hotbar once learned. It improves movement a bit and lets you glide off cliffs, but taking one hit makes it vanish.
Mounts do not help in combat yet, and they do not remove fall damage. Think of it as a travel toy, not a survival tool.
Starting the Terrorbird Quest
Enter Fellhollow and reach Bleak Fields Valley. Three main roads branch out. Between the north and west paths is a small structure with an NPC standing near the stones.
Talk to him. He asks for three Terrorbird Hearts and marks the start of the mount quest. This unlocks Spirit Terror Bird spawns across Willow Groves.
Finding Willow Groves
Willow Groves are clusters of willow trees with long drooping leaves. A single willow tree does not count. Look for areas where multiple willows grow together.
Groves appear across Fellhollow and most Terror Bird spawns sit inside these clusters.
Where the Spirit Terrorbirds Spawn
You need three hearts, each from a different grove. If you need a visual, refer to the video down below.
First Grove
Head far north past a tall spire. Level 5 enemies guard the whole area. Use terrain and movement spells to avoid fights if your gear is not ready.
Second Grove
Start at the NPC and walk west. Enter the Willow Range zone, then head south. This grove is safer but still loaded with enemies.
Third Grove
Go to the northwest corner of the zone. Look for water pools surrounded by willows and a small slope leading into a glade.
All Spirit Terrorbirds behave the same. They stand still, warn you with noise, and only fight when hit.
Fighting Spirit Terrorbirds
Once attacked, they apply bleeding. Bring healing food that helps you stay stable. Roast Dinner meals work well for this stage of the game.
Killing one drops a Terrorbird Heart. You will also find extra resources in the surrounding grove.
What to Bring Before Hunting
Gear matters a lot here. Steel tools make these areas way easier.
Steel Axe for dealing with willow wood
Steel armor for surviving level 5 mobs
Waypoint stones for quick escapes
Healing meals for bleeding
Speed potions for clean runs
Respawn stones in case things go sideways
You do not need to clear everything. Many players finish this quest by sprinting through the map and taking safe fights only when needed.
Extra Materials in Willow Groves
These groves are packed with loot while you hunt the birds.
Coal nodes
Granite
Cadava berries
Willow wood
Golden chests on ruins
Always check the tops of fallen towers and cliff ruins. Golden chests spawn there often.
Unlocking the Terrorbird Mount
Return to the NPC with all three hearts. Turning them in unlocks the Terrorbird mount permanently.
The game hints that extra hearts can be found again, possibly for gifting future mounts to friends. Spirit Terror Birds seem to respawn, so farming them later is possible.
Final Blurb
The Terrorbird mount is a fun unlock but not a game changer. It gives light speed, a simple glide, and falls apart when touched. Still, it helps exploration in Fellhollow and sets the stage for bigger mount features later. Grab it when you can, gear up first, and treat it like a bonus reward.
FAQ
Is the Terrorbird good for traveling
It helps a little, but losing it after one hit limits where you can use it.
Do Spirit Terrorbirds respawn
They appear to, since the quest suggests giving extra hearts to friends.
Do you need steel gear for this quest
Not required, but it makes the grove fights much safer.
Do mounts prevent fall damage
No. The glide helps control your fall, but you can still take damage.
Can you fight on a mount
Not right now. One hit removes the mount entirely.
