Should You Attack & Kill Portier in Expedition 33?

If you’re wondering whether to attack Portier in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, here’s the simple answer... and why it matters more than it seems.
Should You Attack Portier?
No. Don’t attack Portier.
If you leave Portier alone, you can earn a better reward later in the story. Killing him gives short-term loot, but blocks a larger bonus tied to the Nevron side quests.
What Happens if You Attack Portier?
You’ll trigger a boss fight.
If you win, you get:
3 Colours of Lumina
1 Polished Chroma Catalyst
But Portier disappears forever, and you lose access to a bigger quest reward later.
Why You Should Spare Portier
By keeping Portier alive, you’ll unlock a future reward for helping special Nevrons survive. This later quest gives a rare bonus that most players will miss if they kill Portier early.
Portier Side Quest — Wood Boards Location
Area: Esoteric Ruins
Complete the glowing orb maze in the ruins.
At the exit, grab the Wood Boards near a fallen roof.
Bring the boards back to Portier to continue the quest.
Initial Reward for Helping Portier
If you give him the Wood Boards and don’t attack:
You’ll get the Protecting Heal Pictos, which adds Shell when healing an ally.
Final Blurb
Spare Portier if you want the best rewards in Expedition 33. The boss loot is tempting, but long-term players will get much more for keeping him alive. Unless you really just want the Colours of Lumina right now... leave that poor floating guy alone.
