The King Is Watching Council Guide

The King Is Watching Council Guide

Written by Alec Blackwood | The King is Watching

You unlock the Royal Council in the full version of The King Is Watching. Once active, you can pick up to 8 Advisors before each run. Each one gives a major bonus that changes your entire strategy.

The Council gives you control over how your reign starts and grows. It replaces passive traits by letting you shape your build from the very beginning.

Each Advisor affects what units, buildings, spells, and upgrades appear in your run. Some boost income, others increase spell slots, reduce costs, or bring back fallen troops.

How to Unlock the Council

The Council is only available in the full game. It does not appear in the demo. After buying the full version, you’ll see the Council screen before your run begins.

You’ll pick from a pool of 21 Advisors. Choose up to 8. Once locked in, they stay active for the entire reign.

How Council Picks Work

Advisors change the way your kingdom plays. Some boost your early game, others improve your scaling. Many directly replace key systems like mines, forges, or spells.

Each pick adjusts your loadout:

  • Units and blueprints you see during the run

  • Economy flow and building costs

  • Spell slots and artifact access

  • Army size, production speed, and resource gain

Choose based on your build. If you’re going for a Forge and Gold Mine rush, stack production bonuses. If you rely on spells, take extra slots.

Common Starter Advisors

Gustav gives +5 percent building output. Strong for forging and income.

Phoenix brings back 7 percent of your troops. Great for frontline spam.

Unicorn gives 3 extra spell slots. Works well with Freeze, Necromancy, and Meteorite.

Golem cuts all building costs by 10 percent. Helps rush early upgrades.

Felix the Cat gives a free random artifact at the start. Can lead to fast power spikes.

These picks let you start faster and last longer, even on tougher Ascension settings.

Why the Council is Important

High wave runs need early momentum and late-game control. The Council helps with both. It gives you better starts, more control over what shows up, and lets you skip weak parts of your build.

If you’re stuck or losing to bosses, your Advisor setup may be holding you back. Swap in better bonuses that match your build.

Final Blurb

The Royal Council is how you take full control in The King Is Watching. With the right Advisors, you can shape your economy, army, and spell path before your run even begins. It’s the strongest system in the game for defining your playstyle.

Use it well, or lose your crown.
