The King Is Watching: How to Move Buildings

Written by Alec Blackwood | The King is Watching

Hold Shift and Left-Click any building to move it. That’s it. You can reposition buildings anytime, and it’s one of the most important mechanics in the game. With that said, let’s dive a bit into why it is important and how you can best utilize building movement.

Why Moving Buildings is Important

Vision Is Everything

Your kingdom only works where your gaze is active. Being able to move buildings lets you rotate your vision between:

  • Resource hubs (wood, wheat, clay)

  • Military zones (militia camps, barracks, dragon nests)

  • Spell or healing centers (hospitals, arenas, colleges)

Instead of wasting gold or remaking buildings, just shift them in and out of active zones.

Swapping Production Priority

Let’s say you’re low on Wheat but not Wood. Instead of building a second Wheat Field, just:

  1. Move your Sawmill out

  2. Drop the Wheat Field into the vision area

  3. Let it produce for a few days

  4. Swap again when done

There’s a short delay where output slows, but it's worth it every time.

Combat Layouts

During big waves or boss fights, use Shift-move to:

  • Bring Hospitals near the frontline

  • Activate Arenas or Concerts for buff zones

  • Slide Forge or Dragon Nests out to boost troop training speed

You can even pause between waves to pre-position.

When to Move Buildings

Use it to:

  • Replace your Market with a Gold Mine

  • Temporarily add a second Forge during upgrades

  • Rearrange for better Flour and Wheat flow for dragons

  • Place a Mill or Dragon Nest under vision only when ready to use

  • Switch from militia to dragon training without deleting anything

What Can’t Be Moved?

You can’t move your castle or any destroyed buildings. Everything else, including resource generators, troop producers, healing stations, and vision upgrades, can be moved freely as long as you’re playing the standard character.

Final Blurb

Moving buildings with Shift-Click isn’t optional... it’s essential. If you’re still rebuilding from scratch, stop now and start rotating your layout like a real king. The faster you master this, the longer your reign will last.
