Blizzard’s next major update for The War Within, titled Legacy of Arathor, is packed with new story content, gameplay updates, rewards, and quality-of-life features for all types of players.

New Arathi Highlands Campaign

A new multi-quest campaign arrives, set in the Arathi Highlands. Tensions between the Horde and Alliance are rising once again. You’ll team up with Faerin and Danath to try to keep the peace.

The two-chapter storyline includes branching viewpoints depending on your faction.

Campaign Rewards:

  • Alliance: Stromgarde Tabard

  • Horde: Mag'har Tabard

  • Shoulder transmog based on Faerin’s pauldrons.

Players are also encouraged to listen to the Heartlands five-part audio novella before entering the Highlands.

Lorewalking with Lorewalker Cho

Players level 10 and above can take on Lorewalking quests by speaking with Lorewalker Cho in Stormwind, Orgrimmar, or Dornogal. You’ll revisit iconic lore moments and experience new storylines.

Three repeatable quest chains:

  • Meet the Ethereals: Battle Dimensius, meet Alleria and Locus Walker, explore the Shadowlands, and meet Ve’nari.

  • Xal’atath’s Storyline: Trace the Blade of the Black Empire’s path from Legion through Battle for Azeroth and back to the Black Empire.

  • Face the Past with Arthas: Relive the Culling of Stratholme, revisit Wrath’s betrayal moments, and experience the Lich King’s final stand.

Lorewalking pauses your other questing progress but can be exited at any time.

Overcharged Delves

Six Delves will now feature a new difficulty modifier called Overcharged Delves. You’ll face new rare enemies, more traps, and new challenges that can also be turned to your advantage using traits in a new Overcharged Delves trait tree.

Affected Delves:

  • Kreigval’s Rest

  • Skittering Breach

  • The Spiral Weave

  • Nightfall Sanctum

  • Fungal Folly

  • Sidestreet Sluice

Delve Rewards:

  • Titan Disc Belt (upgradeable weekly)

  • New Overcharged Mech Suit mount

  • Additional gear and Delves currency

Combat Assistant and Single-Button Assistant

Two new UI features are being introduced to assist players of all skill levels:

Combat Assistant highlights your recommended next ability based on the situation, helping new players and those trying new specializations.

Single-Button Assistant allows players to use one button to automatically cast the recommended next ability, with a slight cooldown added to keep it balanced. It will also detect when AoE abilities should be used.

The Greedy Emissary Event Returns

The Greedy Emissary event will return later in this patch cycle. Greedy emissaries will appear in Stormwind, Orgrimmar, Dornogal, and Undermine.

Event Rewards:

  • New mount

  • Recolored classic Tier 2 armor sets for all classes

  • Collector’s Bounty buff for increased legacy loot drops

Turbulent Timeways Adds Battle for Azeroth

The Turbulent Timeways event will now include Battle for Azeroth, refreshing the Timewalking rotation.

Six-week rotation:

  • Week 1 & 6: Battle for Azeroth

  • Week 2: Mists of Pandaria

  • Week 3: Burning Crusade

  • Week 4: Warlords of Draenor

  • Week 5: Legion

New Timewalking Dungeons:

  • Atal’Dazar

  • Freehold

  • King’s Rest

  • Shrine of the Storm

  • Temple of Sethraliss

  • Waycrest Manor

Players can also visit new Battle for Azeroth Timewalking vendors in Boralus and Dazar’Alor. Completing these Timewalking challenges can earn you the new Chrono Corsair skyriding mount.
