Toxic Commando The Drop Mission Walkthrough
The Drop is the first mission in John Carpenter's Toxic Commando, and it sets the tone for everything that comes next. The crew starts with what sounds like a simple delivery job, drive a package to a location and collect the pay. Of course that plan falls apart almost immediately.
This mission acts as the game's introduction. You learn how vehicles work, how to use Spare Parts, and how to survive your first real swarm of enemies. By the end of the mission, the crew discovers the job was never going to be simple.
How To Complete The Drop In Toxic Commando
To complete The Drop mission in Toxic Commando you must repair your vehicle, fight through the facility, clear the sludge blocking the elevator, and activate the generator before escaping the area.
Most of the mission revolves around keeping the vehicle working while pushing through waves of enemies. You will also need Spare Parts several times, so grabbing them whenever you see them helps a lot.
Once the generator section is finished and the sludge is destroyed, the mission ends with a story sequence that reveals what the delivery was really about.
Driving Toward The Drop Location
The mission begins with the crew driving toward the drop site while your mysterious contractor talks over the radio. He makes it very clear that you should keep moving forward and not stop for anything.
That advice lasts about five seconds before everything goes wrong.
Something massive runs into the vehicle and wrecks it, leaving the crew stranded at the entrance of the industrial facility. At that point you finally take control and the real mission begins.
Repairing The Vehicle
After the crash, start by checking the nearby building where enemies appear from the door on the left. Clear out the zombies inside and search the area.
You will find Spare Parts here. These are used for several things during the mission including repairing the vehicle.
Once the car is repaired, it still needs fuel. Head up the nearby stairs and grab one of the fuel canisters, then bring it back to the vehicle and refill the tank.
After that the crew can finally get moving again.
Breaking Through The Tunnel Gate
When the vehicle is running again, more zombies start showing up. Clear them out and drive toward the blocked gate in front of you.
Use the vehicle winch to pull the barricade apart so the car can move forward into the tunnels.
Keep driving until you reach a steep section where the vehicle cannot climb normally. Aim the winch at the pipe ahead and use it to pull the vehicle upward.
This mechanic shows up in later missions too, so it is worth remembering.
Surviving The Elevator Horde
At the end of the tunnel you will reach the elevator area. Before calling it, take a moment to prepare.
Use Spare Parts to activate the nearby turret and trap. These defenses help a lot when the swarm arrives.
Once you call the elevator a one minute survival fight begins. Zombies will flood the area, so use the vehicle turret and your weapons to hold them back.
Ammo and healing supplies can be found in the nearby crate if things get messy.
Clearing The Sludge Inside The Elevator
When the elevator opens you will see that sludge is blocking the path forward. Use the vehicle EMP ability to clear the sludge so the elevator can start moving.
As the elevator rises, more sludge appears along the walls. Look for the red weak spots and shoot them to clear the blockage.
You can also repair the vehicle while the elevator is moving if it took damage during the fight.
Restarting The Facility Systems
Once you reach the top level, head toward the control room following the objective marker. Inside you will find the system needed to open the garage.
Activate the panel, then return to the elevator breaker and repair it using one Spare Part.
Unfortunately the facility is still completely overrun with sludge.
Destroying The Sludge Mass
The next step is activating the electrical system in the computer room. This allows the generator to start.
Before turning it on, prepare your defenses again because another large wave of enemies is coming.
Once the generator is active, weak spots appear on the sludge mass. Shoot the red points to destroy it while surviving the zombie attacks around you.
After the final weak spot is destroyed, the path out of the facility opens.
The End Of The Mission
Just when it looks like the crew is about to escape, a massive creature appears outside the facility. Compared to the enemies earlier, this thing is enormous.
Fighting it normally does nothing. The only option is using the package you were hired to deliver.
The crew throws the package at the monster and detonates it, creating a huge explosion. The creature disappears in the blast, but the team is now exposed to the infection spreading through the world.
That is when Leon finally appears and explains what is really going on. The device he gives the crew slows the infection, but it also means they now have one job left, destroy the source of the sludge.
Final Blurb
The Drop mission works as the introduction to John Carpenter's Toxic Commando. It teaches the basics of vehicle repair, Spare Parts, swarm fights, and clearing sludge barriers.
By the end of the mission the crew realizes the delivery job was never simple. Instead they are now part of Leon's plan to eliminate the source of the outbreak.
