Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Review
Since Call of Duty’s Modern Warfare reboot in 2019 each new release has stirred up debates by players. But, with Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, we finally see Activision taking strides to bring back what made CoD such a beloved series along with a great single-player campaign, addictive multiplayer, and a nod to classic Zombies. This might just be the Call of Duty that many fans have been waiting for.
The Campaign – Finally, a Good Time!
It’s been a while since a Call of Duty campaign felt exciting. If, like me, you were disappointed with last year’s Modern Warfare 3, Black Ops 6 is a pleasant surprise. The campaign has a mix of classic linear action and a few missions that let you explore wider environments, which almost teases the idea of an open-world CoD. One minute you’re sneaking around an enemy compound, and the next, you’re storming an airport with guns blazing. The campaign isn’t lengthy—about five hours—but it’s full of big moments that keep things exciting.
You’ll pick your missions from a safehouse, which you can upgrade using cash you find along the way. This adds replay value because those upgrades give you little perks for the field. Sure, the story itself feels a bit flat and lacks the punch of CoD classics, but the gameplay? That’s where it shines.
Multiplayer – Fast, Fun, and Full of Laughs
If there’s one thing Black Ops 6 gets right, it’s the multiplayer. They’ve introduced “omnimovement,” which lets you dive, sprint, and dodge in any direction. It takes a bit of practice, but it’s a game-changer for speed and strategy, making firefights feel even more intense.
Now, CoD’s multiplayer experience lives and dies by its maps, and Black Ops 6 mostly hits the mark. There are a few that aren’t great (I’m looking at you, Rewind), but most have a unique style and plenty of personality. My favorite mode so far is Gunfight, where the map Stakeout really stands out. It’s set in an apartment building with crazy options for flanking and sneaking around, plus an air duct for some sneaky moves. And between the hilarious ragdoll physics, omnimovement dives, and the proximity chat that lets you banter with captured opponents, Black Ops 6 multiplayer makes every match memorable.
Zombies – Nostalgic but Fresh
Black Ops 6 also brings back round-based Zombies, and it’s as satisfying as ever. The two maps, Terminus and Liberty Falls, are completely different from each other, with Terminus giving off eerie prison island vibes while Liberty Falls feels like a haunted small town. Both maps are packed with secrets, Easter eggs, and all the classic Zombies perks like Juggernog and the Mystery Box. The best part? They’ve added a “save and quit” feature for solo players, which is super handy if you need a break mid-game.
Playing Zombies with friends is where it really shines, and I can see Terminus and Liberty Falls becoming regulars in co-op gaming sessions. It’s a solid return to form that feels classic but has enough updates to keep it fresh.
Final Thoughts – Call of Duty is Back
When it comes to graphics, Black Ops 6 is a stunner. From detailed maps and epic lighting to crisp sound design, it’s the best-looking CoD in years. And with Activision’s promise of steady updates, Black Ops 6 looks like it’ll stay entertaining for a long while. Sure, the campaign’s story could be stronger, and a couple of maps need some tweaks, but all in all, this is Call of Duty at its best.
If you’ve been craving the classic CoD experience, Black Ops 6 is worth every minute.
