Alchemist Guild Questline Guide | Tainted Grail The Fall of Avalon

You can start the Alchemist Guild questline by talking to Jann Heber in Horns of the South, and we’ve put a basic guide together going over all 10+ quests in the entire series.
From there, the chain spirals into a multi-region journey full of rituals, weird spirits, cultists, snails... and absolutely underwhelming loot.
But if you're a completionist or chasing achievements (as this one grants you The Spark of Creation achievement), here's how to do it all step by step.
Quest 1: Lenses and Eye of the Sage
Beginning the Alchemist Guild quests
Talk to Jann Heber in Horns of the South to get the quest.
Buy venison, onion, and garlic from the kitchen across the street. These are for the ritual.
Go to the marked ritual site and start it.
After talking to the summoned spirits, go back to Jann to finish it and unlock the next step.

Find Drest
Jann asks you to find someone to perform a new ritual. That someone is Drest, located on the beach beneath Horns of the South.
Talk to him, then meet him at the new ritual site.
This time, you summon Iona. You'll have to either kill her or kill Drest... but it doesn’t matter. Pick whoever you want.
Return to Jann after and hear about a figure named Taranis.
Quest 3: Whisperers in the Dark
Where to Go
Taranis won’t be marked. Head to the top of the map and enter Mistbearer’s Den.
Fight the Mistbearer’s Den boss inside.
Return to Taranis to continue.
Quest 4: Behind the Curtain
Collect the Journals
Taranis sends you to collect Erkhart's journals.
They're in a nearby cave. Just head in, grab them, and bring them back.
Then, meet Taranis at the Statue of the Harpist near Cuanacht to trigger the next quest.
Quest 5: Over My Dead Bodies
Find Taranis again in Cuanacht, just outside the Horns of the South entrance.
He asks you to find Caelum’s research and help someone trapped in a basement.
You’ll need to go to a cave on the northern edge of the map and kill a boss named Gloomfrond. This completes the Last One of the Season achievement.
Return to Taranis when that’s done.
Quest 6/7: The Price of Perfection & Fragment of Humanity (Foxglove)
Find Phaidros in his lab (marked on map).
He’ll send you to get a Fay Heart from a creature named Foxglove.
You can side with either one... but again, it makes no difference. Phaidros ends up dead no matter what… Poor guy.
You'll now meet Alma.
Quest 8: Aberrant Mines Quest
Kill three monsters and collect their brains.
They’re marked on your map, so just follow the trail, clean them up, and return to Alma.
Quest 9: Misgivings
Alma now wants to strike a deal with the Dal Riata.
Go to the Forlorn Swords, find her near the entrance, and complete the event at the exchange site nearby.
Then talk to Alma again to unlock the next part.
Quest 10/11: Unfolding & Extinction of the Weak
Meet Dolf, who wants you to get frostgrot mucus.
Snails only spawn in/around water, so stay around the large lake near the capital’s fast travel location.
Kill 5 and grab their shells.
Now you’ll get a weird option...
Dolf offers to inject you. If you say yes, you’ll wake up in his prison cell, and the quest will bug out. You won’t be able to finish the quest if you pick this option (at least as of now).
To actually finish the questline, you have to refuse the injection and return to Alma.
Quest 12: The Baneful Choir (Final Quest)
You’ll meet the head of the Alchemist Guild, Heledd, near Dolf’s cabin.
There is a ton of jumping involved here, so be ready to be an agile little guy.
She’s created some horrible monster and wants you to kill it.
If you refuse, she attacks you and the quest fails.
Kill it to complete the storyline.
Rewards
There is no armor set or major loot.
You get the Spark of Creation achievement and the pride of dealing with half-mad cultists and bugged quests.
Final Blurb & FAQ
This Alchemist Guild storyline takes you across the entire map and drops you into some of the game’s more bizarre side content. It’s more about lore and choices than loot, and your decisions mostly don’t change anything.
Still, if you want the full experience... or just like snails and broken scientists, it’s worth doing once.
