Aliens Fireteam Elite 2 Best Weapons Ranked

Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 divides its arsenal between primaries, sidearms, and powerful signature weapons. Classes begin with their own combat identities, but weapon upgrades, augments, and the Specialist’s customization eventually provide much more freedom when assembling a complete loadout.

The L56A3 Smartgun is the best weapon overall because it combines nearly perfect handling with sustained swarm damage and enough range to remain useful outside cramped rooms. The M41A2 Pulse Rifle is the best dependable primary, while the M12A1 Rocket Launcher and HNT-1 E1 Alamein are stronger when the squad needs concentrated damage against heavier targets.

L56A3 Smartgun Is The Best Weapon Overall

The L56A3 Smartgun takes the top position because it solves the most common combat problem in Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 without creating a major weakness elsewhere. Its 98 accuracy and 97 stability make it exceptionally easy to control, while sustained fire prevents groups of fast-moving Xenomorphs from reaching the squad intact.

The Smartgun also maintains its damage through mid range before falling off beyond approximately 50 meters. That gives it a much larger practical combat window than the Volcan, Type 21, or Zadak, all of which depend on enemies entering a specific close-range zone.

In my experience, the Smartgun is the easiest weapon to trust when an encounter changes unexpectedly. It can hold a corridor, track runners moving across the room, and continue damaging a heavier enemy without forcing an immediate weapon swap.

Its main weakness is concentrated boss damage. Hunter’s precision weapons and the M12A1 Rocket Launcher can remove health or armor more quickly during the correct opening, but neither matches the Smartgun’s consistency across an entire mission.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 Weapon Ranking

Rank Weapon Best Use
1 L56A3 Smartgun Best overall weapon and swarm control
2 M41A2 Pulse Rifle Best all-purpose primary
3 M12A1 Rocket Launcher Best explosive and elite damage
4 DB-48 Daittyo Heavy Rifle Best sustained corridor fire
5 HNT-1 E1 Alamein Revolver Rifle Best precision rifle
6 OCAP-91 Volcan Best close-range crowd clearer
7 BD-03 Djinn Personal Railgun Best Hunter weak-point weapon
8 SMB-94 Zephyr Plasma Emitter Best against dense groups and synthetic armor
9 X1 Fireball Best Medic signature weapon
10 Type 111 Directed Particle Emitter Controlled-target finishing damage
11 Type 21 Tactical Shotgun Mk.2 Point-defense inside small rooms
12 EDS-93 Zadak Plasma Discharger Mk.2 Extremely close plasma damage

This ranking favors weapons that remain effective throughout an entire mission. A lower placement does not necessarily indicate weak damage; Type 21 and Zadak can be dangerous within their intended ranges, but their limited reach makes them harder to recommend as the foundation of a loadout.

Best Primary Weapons

The M41A2 Pulse Rifle ranks second overall and is the best general-purpose primary. Its 70 accuracy and 73 stability create a balanced firing profile that works without requiring a specialized class setup. Damage drops after approximately 30 meters, but most encounters still provide enough opportunities to fight within its effective range.

M41A2 also leaves the signature slot available for a more specialized answer. A player can use the Pulse Rifle for routine targets and switch to a Rocket Launcher, Railgun, or flamethrower when the mission produces something the primary cannot efficiently handle.

The DB-48 Daittyo Heavy Rifle ranks fourth and provides more sustained fire for long corridors and concentrated groups. It is the better choice when the player wants continuous automatic pressure rather than the Pulse Rifle’s balanced handling.

Duelist receives particularly strong value from the Daittyo because the class can pair it with another primary. Daittyo handles the flood of regular enemies while the HNT-1 E1 Alamein waits for a heavy Xenomorph or synthetic.

Alamein ranks fifth with 87 accuracy and 67 stability. It keeps strong damage through mid range and rewards controlled shots against weak points. The revolver rifle does not clear a wave as quickly as the Daittyo, but it provides the superior answer when one enemy must be eliminated before it reaches the fireteam.

Best Signature Weapons

The M12A1 Rocket Launcher is the highest-ranked signature weapon after the Smartgun. Its damage remains effective to approximately 80 meters, giving Marauder an explosive option that can attack groups and heavier enemies before they enter close range.

The launcher’s 72 accuracy is solid, although 43 stability and the slower firing pattern make each shot more deliberate. It performs best when rockets are reserved for clustered enemies, elites, and important openings rather than spent on isolated runners.

The OCAP-91 Volcan ranks sixth because nothing else controls a close room in quite the same way. It carries 100 accuracy and 82 stability, maintains full damage to approximately 30 meters, and burns through enemies attempting to cross a narrow approach.

Volcan’s hard range cutoff before 40 meters is the only reason it does not rank higher. It dominates when the squad can force enemies through a nearby doorway, but it contributes nothing against targets positioned beyond the flame’s reach.

The BD-03 Djinn Personal Railgun ranks seventh and is Hunter’s best signature weapon. Particle Pulse and Stasis Bolt create opportunities to line up its precision attacks, while No Mercy and No Rest improve weak-point damage and stopping power.

Djinn is not designed for general wave clearing. It exists to punish a marked, slowed, or exposed target with one decisive shot. Players who consistently hit weak points can receive top-level damage from it, but missed attacks leave Hunter contributing far less than a Smartgun or automatic rifle user.

The SMB-94 Zephyr Plasma Emitter takes eighth. Its handling sits in the upper-middle range, and its plasma output gives Machinist a strong answer to dense formations and synthetic armor. It also maintains more practical distance than the class’s other signature weapon.

The X1 Fireball ranks ninth but remains the best Medic signature. Its 86 accuracy compensates for the more modest 59 stability, and its damage remains useful through mid range before declining at approximately 50 to 60 meters.

Fireball suits Medic because it provides meaningful incendiary pressure without forcing the player into the point-blank distance required by Type 21. That allows Medic to remain close enough to support the squad without standing directly in the path of every attacking Xenomorph.

Weapons That Require The Right Setup

The Type 111 Directed Particle Emitter ranks tenth. It works with Hunter’s slowing and control abilities to finish pinned enemies once a weak-point opportunity has been created. It can deliver strong results within that sequence, but Djinn provides the clearer precision identity and more obvious finishing role.

Type 21 Tactical Shotgun Mk.2 ranks eleventh due to its severe range restriction. Its 39 accuracy and 65 stability are appropriate for an emergency doorway weapon, but damage begins falling sharply between approximately 10 and 20 meters.

That forces Medic to fight closer to the swarm than necessary. Type 21 is effective when defending a tiny room or removing an enemy that has already breached the formation, but Fireball is useful across a much larger portion of each mission.

EDS-93 Zadak Plasma Discharger Mk.2 occupies the final position. Its 44 accuracy and 66 stability support a short plasma burst, yet damage begins collapsing after approximately eight meters. That is an extremely restrictive distance for a game built around maintaining space against advancing swarms.

Zadak can erase targets that enter its ideal zone, but reaching that zone safely is the problem. Zephyr delivers the more useful Machinist weapon because it contributes before enemies are already within striking distance.

Best Weapon For Every Class

Class Weapon Picks:
Marauder — L56A3 Smartgun
Medic — X1 Fireball
Duelist — DB-48 Daittyo and HNT-1 E1 Alamein
Machinist — SMB-94 Zephyr Plasma Emitter
Hunter — BD-03 Djinn Personal Railgun
Specialist — L56A3 Smartgun or M12A1 Rocket Launcher

Marauder should use the Smartgun when the squad needs sustained suppression and switch to M12A1 when another teammate already controls the swarm. Volcan is the stronger alternative for missions built around tight rooms and predictable chokepoints.

Duelist has the best natural weapon pairing. Daittyo clears the approaching group, while Alamein deals with the heavy target behind it. Medic and Machinist should avoid their shortest-range signatures unless the mission consistently places enemies inside those narrow damage windows.

Hunter receives the greatest return from matching weapon choice to class abilities. Djinn becomes much more dangerous after Particle Pulse or Stasis Bolt creates a controlled target, which is why it ranks above Type 111 within the class.

Specialist has the freedom to build around signatures unlocked from the other classes. Smartgun is the best default selection, while M12A1 becomes the better choice when the rest of the loadout already handles regular enemies and needs explosive damage against elites.

Which Weapon Should You Upgrade First?

Upgrade the L56A3 Smartgun first if you want the most immediately useful weapon. Its accuracy and stability already solve the primary handling problems associated with sustained fire, and augments can build upon a weapon that performs well across swarms, corridors, and heavier enemies.

M41A2 is the better first primary investment because it fits almost any loadout and allows the signature weapon to cover a more specialized role. Duelist players should develop Daittyo and Alamein together, while Hunter players should commit to Djinn only if they are comfortable building their damage around weak-point shots.

M12A1, Volcan, and Djinn are the strongest specialized investments. Choose M12A1 for explosive burst, Volcan for close-range swarm control, or Djinn for precision damage. Type 21 and Zadak should be upgraded last unless your preferred strategy deliberately keeps enemies within their extremely short effective ranges.
