Ashes of Creation Commissions Board and Mayoral Depot Guide
If you’ve ever stared at the commission boards in town wondering how they work or where to drop off your items, this covers everything. Here’s how each board functions, what they reward, and exactly where to find the mayoral commission depot. We’ve included a video down below if that helps as well.
Where the Mayoral Commission Depot Is Found
The mayoral commission depot is placed right beside the mayoral commission board. It’s not a separate building or hidden area. You’ll only see it once a settlement reaches level 3 or higher and has an elected mayor.
Go to the Town Hall
Find the mayoral commission board in front
The depot Dropbox is sitting right next to it
If the depot doesn’t appear, that means the settlement hasn’t reached the proper level or election phase yet.
How the Commissions Board System Works
Commissions act as repeatable tasks that help a settlement grow. Completing them gives Adventuring XP, artisan XP, Glint, items, and settlement progress. There are four board types that unlock as the town develops.
Artisan commissions
Adventure commissions
Hunting commissions
Mayoral commissions
Each one becomes available based on the settlement’s current stage.
Settlement Levels and Board Unlocks
Level 0 – no boards at all
Level 1 (Crossroads) – adventure board only
Level 2 (Encampment) – adventure and artisan boards
Level 3 (Village) – adventure, artisan, hunting, and mayoral boards after election
Level 4 (Town) – two artisan boards, one adventure, one hunting, and one mayoral
Artisan Commission Board
Artisan commissions revolve around gathering and item deliveries.
Gathering commissions track progress automatically when collecting materials
Turn-in commissions require you to submit items manually at the nearby depot
The artisan commission depot sits right beside the board near the marketplace. It’s only used for turn-ins, and item rarity doesn’t increase the reward. Always avoid submitting rare materials and Burbs specifically unless you really want to. After turning in, you must still confirm completion through the journal.
Adventure Commission Board
Adventure commissions cover exploration, combat, and light gathering. Icons mark what kind of job it is.
Spyglass icon means exploration
Skull icon means combat
Crate icon means gathering
Exploration commissions finish when you reach a marked location. Combat ones complete when you defeat the listed mobs.
Hunting Commission Board
Hunting commissions focus purely on combat tasks. You can find the hunting board outside the Hunting Lodge, the one with dragon statues on the roof. Every mission here involves killing a specific creature or group of mobs.
Mayoral Commission Board and Depot
Mayoral commissions are created by the settlement’s mayor. They help improve settlement stats and provide player-wide bonuses.
They only appear once a village reaches level 3 or higher with a proper election.

Citizen reputation
Citizen reputation unlocks storage access, unique vendors, buffs, and certificates for trade goods.
Earning XP Efficiently
If you want to maximize Adventuring XP, there’s a reliable method for it.
Accept several commissions at once
Complete all objectives but don’t turn them in yet
Start turning them in until an Adventuring XP scroll drops
Stop turning them in
Finish more commissions while holding the scroll
Activate the scroll, then turn everything in together
This produces the highest XP burst early in progression and keeps leveling steady.
Final Blurb
Commissions are a major part of long-term settlement growth in Ashes of Creation. Once you know where each board and depot is located, turning in tasks becomes quick and efficient. The mayoral depot sits right beside the mayor’s board for easy access, saving time while you rack up XP, Glint, and reputation.
