Blue Prince: Basement and Basement Key Guide

The Basement in Blue Prince is a key part of the deeper mystery behind Mt. Holly. But you can’t just walk in. You’ll need to unlock access from the Foundation, draft rooms in the right spots, and hunt down a key stashed somewhere completely unrelated. Classic Blue Prince.
Here’s how to reach the Basement and get the key you need to open it.
How to Access the Basement
To even see the Basement, you’ll first need to draft the Foundation, the room at the very center of the manor. Inside, you’ll spot an elevator, but it’ll be inactive at first.
To activate it:
Draft a room to the right of the Foundation.
This room must have a door on its left side (so it lines up with the Foundation).
When you enter that room, the door will be replaced with a mechanical elevator trigger.
A cutscene will play showing the elevator lowering.
After that, head back into the Foundation and you’ll be able to take the elevator down into the Basement.
How to Get the Basement Key
Once you’re in the Basement, you’ll find the door is locked. To open it, you’ll need the Basement Key, which is found far from the actual Basement.
The key is located in the Antechamber, a room in the northmost part of the manor.
The Antechamber doesn’t always show up in your draft pool, so keep playing until it appears.
Once inside, you’ll find the Basement Key waiting for you.
This key also unlocks the Well Door beneath the Fountain, leading to an alternate route through the Underground.

Why the Basement is Important
Opening the Basement isn’t just for completionists. It contains a puzzle tied to the Antechamber levers, which are part of the larger path toward reaching Room 46. If you’re trying to solve everything Mt. Holly has to offer, the Basement is a must.
