Blue Prince: Parlor Puzzle Guide (“Middle Box”)

The Parlor in Blue Prince might look like a comfy retreat, but it’s hiding a devious little logic test. If you’re going for the Logical Trophy (win 40 parlor games) or just trying to grab some extra gems, you’ll want to learn how this works.
It’s a classic riddle setup—three boxes, three clues, one right answer. And of course, it gets weirder the deeper you go.
How the Parlor Puzzle Works
When you enter the Parlor, you’ll see three boxes: one blue, one white, and one black. Each has a different statement written on it. You’ll also see a note nearby that explains the rules:
At least one of the statements is true
At least one of the statements is false
Only one box contains gems
You’ll also find a Wind-Up Key in the room. Once you think you’ve figured out which box has the gems, use the key to unlock it.
Guess correctly, and you’ll be rewarded with two gems. Guess wrong, and the box will snap shut with nothing inside.
How to Solve the Puzzle
You’ll need to use logical deduction to figure out which statement is true without making any assumptions. Here’s an example setup:
Box 1: “All three boxes contain gems.”
Box 2: “The other two boxes contain gems.”
Box 3: “This box contains gems.”
Start by testing each statement:
If Box 1 were true, all three would contain gems—but we know only one box has gems. So Box 1 is false.
If Box 2 were true, then Boxes 1 and 3 would also have gems. Again, that contradicts the rule. So Box 2 is false.
That leaves Box 3. Its statement is: “This box contains gems.” If it’s the only one that’s true, then the rest checks out. So Box 3 is the winner.
Puzzle Tips and Difficulty Increases

After each successful solve, the puzzle gets trickier:
Statements get more cryptic
Some boxes stop showing any statements at all
Logic becomes less direct
Eventually, you’ll have to make deductions based on what can’t be true rather than what is.
How to Make It Easier
Later in your playthrough, you can find an Upgrade Disk for the Parlor Room. One of the perks grants you two Wind-Up Keys instead of one. That means you can try a second guess if your first choice is wrong, which is extremely helpful for grinding toward that 40-win trophy.
Final Blurb
The Parlor Puzzle in Blue Prince starts off as a fun brain teaser but quickly becomes a full-blown interrogation of your logic skills. One box lies, one tells the truth, and one hides your prize—good luck figuring out which is which.
