Blue Prince: How to Get Vault & Deposit Box Keys

The Vault in Blue Prince is full of shiny things, but you’ll need Vault Keys—also called Deposit Box Keys—to get your hands on the best of them. These keys are rare, but not impossible to find, and the rewards tucked behind each locked box are worth the trouble. Here's how to actually find them.

Where to Find Vault Keys

You can get Vault Keys from a few different places, all of them randomly:

  • Dead-end rooms: Especially ones like the Attic or Walk-In Closet. Sometimes, a Vault Key is just lying around in the loot pile.

  • Dirt piles: If you’re digging with a Shovel, you might unearth a Vault Key.

  • Trunks and chests: Locked containers sometimes hide these keys inside.

  • Locker Room or Sauna: Both are tied to the Pool room. Once you draft a Pool, you unlock these as drafting options—and sometimes, they’ll have a key.

  • Locksmith: You can pay gold to have a Special Key forged. There's a chance it’ll be a Vault Key.

  • Trading Post: If you unlock this Outer Room, you may be able to trade for a key.

  • Lost and Found: Found in the Underground, this room always contains two rare items, which can include Vault Keys. But every time you enter, it takes a random item from your inventory—so pick your visits carefully.

Which Boxes Do the Keys Open?

Inside the Vault, there are four boxes that can actually be opened with keys:

  • Box #149 – Contains an Allowance Token (+1 starting gold)

  • Box #233 – Also has an Allowance Token

  • Box #304 – You guessed it: another Allowance Token

  • Box #370 – This one holds a Sanctum Key, one of the most important items in the game

How We Got the Sanctum Key (Box #370)

In one lucky run, here’s how a player finally found Vault Key #370:

  • They drafted a Shrine as an Outer Room and donated 30 gold for the Blessing of the Monk.

  • That blessing makes it so any room you end the day in can be drafted as an Outer Room the next day.

  • They ended the day inside the Lost and Found room.

  • The next day, they drafted Lost and Found as an Outer Room—and boom, Vault Key #370 was sitting on the desk.

Final Blurb

Finding Vault Keys in Blue Prince is part luck, part persistence, and part hoping the Lost and Found doesn’t take your favorite item when you visit. But if you manage to unlock Box #370, you’ll walk away with one of the game’s biggest rewards—proof that hoarding keys and praying to RNG does pay off sometimes.
