Blue Prince: Spare Room Guide

The Spare Room is the "meh" of rooms. It’s not haunted. It’s not helpful. It just... exists. Which, in Blue Prince, is almost a feature. However… It can be upgraded.

What the Spare Room Does
Has two doors for easy navigation
No items, no Dig Spots, no surprises
Can be drafted in most places, unless you’re facing the Estate walls
Doesn’t play nice with Security Doors or Steam Vents
Basically, it’s the cardboard box of room design. But hey, cardboard boxes are versatile.
Why It’s (Sometimes) Useful
Think of it as a bridge between better rooms
If you're just trying to reach something important, this is a clean way to connect space without getting jumped by weird mechanics
Good in early game when unlocked doors are still a thing
It doesn’t do anything, but sometimes not doing anything is better than doing the wrong thing.
How to Upgrade the Spare Room
The Spare Room can be upgraded at a Terminal using an Upgrade Disk, which turns it into something slightly less sad:
Spare Bedroom – Now counts as a Bedroom; items can appear on the dresser
Spare Greenroom – Now counts as a Green Room; Dig Spots can show up
Spare Hall – Now counts as a Hallway; great for layout planning
Also, if you’ve drafted a Root Cellar, it can randomly add Dig Spots here. And if you’re carrying a Metal Detector, coins or keys might spawn.
Final Blurb
The Spare Room is the beige paint of Blue Prince architecture. It won’t thrill you, but it’ll get the job done. Slap one down when you need a path and aren’t in the mood for gimmicks. And if you're lucky (or bored), upgrade it into something with actual personality.
