Corsair Cove: How to Get More Rope

Corsair Cove: How to Get More Rope

Rope becomes one of the first annoying production bottlenecks in Corsair Cove once you start moving beyond the basic Landlubber. Tier 2 ships need a decent pile of it, and staring at an empty Rope counter while your new ship sits unfinished is not exactly peak pirate empire gameplay.

You do not collect Rope directly from the map. You need to place a Leafcutter on a Fibre deposit, then send that Fibre into a Rope Maker. The easiest setup is usually built near a Pier, since Fibre deposits commonly appear around potential Pier locations and that is where most of the finished Rope will eventually be used.

How to Make Rope in Corsair Cove

Rope is produced through a simple two-building chain:

Fibre Deposit
Leafcutter
Rope Maker
Rope

Start by finding a Fibre deposit and placing a Leafcutter directly on top of it. The Leafcutter gathers the raw Fibre, which must then be delivered to a Rope Maker for processing.

Place at least one Rope Maker reasonably close to the Leafcutter and make sure the two buildings are properly connected. Once workers begin moving Fibre into the Rope Maker, it will start creating Rope automatically.

You can then let the Rope remain inside the production building, move it into a Warehouse, or transport it closer to the Pier where your ships are being built.

I would set this chain up before unlocking or selecting the ship you want to build. Waiting until the ship is already available usually turns Rope into a boring progress wall while you sit around watching the first few pieces slowly come in.

Where to Find Fibre Deposits

Fibre comes from deposits scattered around your island. These deposits commonly appear near Pier slots, so the coastline is a good place to start searching.

Open the construction menu, select the Leafcutter, and move the building around the map. Valid Fibre deposits should become much easier to spot while you have the correct gathering building selected.

You cannot place a Leafcutter anywhere and expect it to produce Fibre. It must be built on the matching deposit, just like other resource-gathering buildings need access to their own resource nodes.

If your starting Pirate Camp does not have a convenient Fibre deposit nearby, check the other available Pier locations. Since Corsair Cove maps can place your useful deposits differently, your best Rope production area may be closer to a second Pier rather than your original settlement.

That is not necessarily a bad thing. Rope is mainly needed for shipbuilding, so producing it beside another Pier can save a lot of unnecessary hauling across the island.

Best Rope Production Layout

The cleanest early setup is one Leafcutter, one nearby Rope Maker, and an optional Warehouse positioned closer to the Pier.

Keep the Leafcutter and Rope Maker close together so workers are not wasting half the day carrying Fibre across your island. Rope production is not complicated, but a terrible transport route can make one basic chain feel painfully slow.

A simple layout looks like this:

Fibre Deposit with Leafcutter
Short path to Rope Maker
Warehouse between the Rope Maker and Pier
Pier using the stored Rope

The Warehouse is not mandatory, especially when the Rope Maker is already beside the Pier. It becomes more useful when the Fibre deposit is farther away or when you want one central storage point supplying multiple shipbuilding locations.

Try to keep the transport connections efficient and green. If the route is long, overloaded, or constantly waiting for a worker, the Rope Maker may spend more time empty than actually producing anything.

I would not build a giant Rope district early on. One properly supplied Rope Maker is much better than three buildings sitting idle because the single Leafcutter cannot feed all of them.

Why Your Rope Maker Is Not Producing Rope

If your Rope Maker has stopped working, click it and check whether Fibre is actually reaching the building. A lack of raw Fibre is the most common reason production stalls.

Next, check whether both buildings have workers. Building the full chain does not help when every available pirate has already been assigned somewhere else.

If your island is completely out of spare workers, temporarily pause a lower-priority production building or recruit additional pirates. Our Corsair Cove Drifters guide covers Smuggling Runs, prison ships, ports, events, and the other ways to increase your available population.

You should also check the route between the Leafcutter and Rope Maker. A connection may technically exist while still being so inefficient that Fibre arrives extremely slowly.

Other things worth checking include:

The Leafcutter is built on a real Fibre deposit
The Leafcutter has an assigned worker
The Rope Maker has an assigned worker
The Rope Maker has space for more output
The building has not been paused
Fibre is not being redirected somewhere else
Your transport routes are not overloaded

If Fibre is piling up inside the Leafcutter, the problem is transport or processing. If the Rope Maker is always empty, shorten the route or improve delivery. If Fibre is reaching the Rope Maker but Rope is filling its output storage, add a Warehouse or improve the route toward your Pier.

How to Get More Rope Faster

Before throwing down more buildings, figure out which part of the chain is actually too slow.

If the Rope Maker is constantly full of Fibre and processing without stopping, then the Rope Maker is your bottleneck. Adding a second Rope Maker can increase production, provided the Leafcutter generates enough Fibre to support both.

If both Rope Makers keep running out of Fibre, you need more raw material instead. Look for another Fibre deposit and build a second Leafcutter rather than adding even more processing buildings.

If Fibre and Rope are both sitting in storage while the shipyard receives nothing, production is not the problem at all. Your hauling network needs work.

A nearby Warehouse can help by collecting Rope and keeping it closer to the Pier. You can also assign additional fetchers when needed, especially if the same Warehouse is trying to supply several busy production chains at once.

The main thing is to avoid guessing. Click through each building and see where the resource is stacking up:

Fibre stuck at Leafcutter: improve transport
Fibre stacked at Rope Maker: add processing
Rope stuck at Rope Maker: improve storage or delivery
Everything empty: add workers or increase Fibre supply

This takes about ten seconds to check and is much better than randomly building four more Rope Makers.

How Much Rope Do You Need?

A Tier 2 ship requires 50 Rope alongside 50 Planks. That makes 50 Rope the first useful production target if you are preparing to upgrade a Landlubber or build a new Tier 2 vessel.

If you plan to build two Tier 2 ships close together, aim for at least 100 Rope. Producing the full amount ahead of time lets you start both projects without emptying your supply after the first ship.

I would personally stock a little more than the exact requirement. Sitting at exactly 50 works, but having a buffer prevents some other construction cost or accidental use from dropping you below the amount needed right when you are ready to build.

You do not need to run a huge Rope surplus forever. Once your important ships are finished and your next upgrades are still a while away, you can pause one of the buildings and move those workers somewhere more useful.

Rope is valuable during fleet expansion, but it does not need to consume a massive chunk of your population when no ships are currently being built.

Does Unlocking Rope Also Unlock Water and Fish?

Some players who previously played the demo remember Water and Fish becoming available around the same point as Rope. In the full release, players have reported progressing beyond Rope without receiving those resource options at the same time.

It is currently unclear whether this is an intentional progression change, a later unlock, or a bug affecting certain saves. Unlocking Rope by itself should therefore not be used as proof that Water and Fish must also be available immediately.

If your only problem is Rope, focus on the Fibre and Rope Maker production chain. Water and Fish use separate gathering systems and are not required to turn Fibre into Rope.

For the quickest setup, find a Fibre deposit near one of your Pier slots, place a Leafcutter on it, build a Rope Maker nearby, and shorten the transport route as much as possible. One efficient chain should cover your first Tier 2 ship, while a second producer or Fibre deposit can help when you begin expanding the full fleet.
