Investigate the town or investigate the smoke
You can choose to head straight to town or detour toward the smoke plume northeast at the campgrounds. The smoke event is time-sensitive and gives extra dialogue, so check it first if you want bonus lore. Both paths lead to Old Town and the Town Hall.
Get to the Town Hall
Follow the trail through the Monastery gardens and into Old Town. The safest way is across rooftops since infected crowd the streets. The Town Hall entrance is through a gated courtyard, so climb over and enter through the double doors.
Clear the patio of infected
Inside, survivors are cornered. Use fuel tanks or ranged weapons to thin the infected before dropping down. Once the last one is gone, a Chimera boss named Defect charges in.
Defeat the Chimera
Defect is larger than the first Chimera you face. Beat it to earn 1 Beast Point.
Find the Town Hall survivors
After the fight, survivors gather in a conference room. Jacob introduces himself and explains Sheriff went to reset the power but never returned.
Get to the tower to help Sheriff
Climb to the second floor of Town Hall, then access the tower. The bottom ladder is raised, so jump up and continue inside. Sheriff is fighting infected at the top and needs backup.
Reset the power
Zipline to the adjoining building. Clear the infected, pick the lock, and activate the power box. Carry the loose cable through the vent to reach the tower side. Climb the clock tower using its columns and clock hands, then reconnect the cable to restore the lights. Sheriff is saved, and the survivors are safe for the night.
