What is Outbreak Mode in FragPunk?

Outbreak Mode is FragPunk’s take on a zombie survival mode, where players work together to fight off Parasites—a deadly enemy that spreads fast. But there’s a twist: if you die to the Parasites, you switch sides and become one of them (similar to previous Zombie game modes in Call of Duty and Halo).

The mode is different from the standard game, with its own Shard Card system that lets players equip up to 10 cards per match. These cards provide various bonuses, and some are exclusive to Survivors or Parasites.

How Outbreak Mode Works

  • Start as a Survivor – Work with your team to eliminate the Parasites before they overwhelm you.

  • Use Shard Cards – Earn Shards passively to buy new abilities, upgrade your deck, or refresh your hand.

  • Get Infected? Now You’re the Enemy – If a Parasite kills you, you switch teams and now hunt down your former teammates.

  • Last Team Standing Wins – The round ends when one side is completely wiped out.

This means there will be fast, aggressive play while keeping things unpredictable with the ever-changing Shard Cards. If you're holding out as a Survivor or going full attack as a Parasite, Outbreak Mode certainly keeps the chaos going.

Final Blurb

If you're looking for a fresh challenge, Outbreak Mode might be your next favorite FragPunk experience, but sadly we just have to wait and see. It has exclusive maps and mechanics, so it’ll definitely be a mode worth jumping into—especially if you're tired of the usual 5v5 shootouts.
