Full Crafting Guide - RuneScape: Dragonwilds

Crafting in RuneScape: Dragonwilds starts small—really small. Your first few tools will look like something your toddler glued together during arts and crafts hour. But don’t worry, it gets better. Eventually, you'll be whipping up magical runes and hunting rats for dinner like it's second nature.

Here’s how to get going without accidentally setting yourself on fire. Hopefully.

Unlocking Your First Crafting Stations

You won’t be handed a crafting table on a silver platter. First, you’ll meet the Wise Old Man. He’s exactly what he sounds like: a beard with opinions. Talk to him to begin your first crafting questline. You’ll also need to speak with Doric and a few other helpful locals who are way too calm considering the wild monsters around.

Your reward? The right to build a Crafting Table, a Campfire, and a Rune Altar. Not glamorous, but necessary.

Crafting a Campfire (Because You Will Get Hungry)

Before you worry about swords, you’re going to need to eat. You’ll build your first Campfire using:

  • 4x Stone

  • 4x Ash Logs

Stones can be mined or picked up. Ash Logs come from trees or just laying around. You’ll use the Campfire to cook simple things like Rat Roast, which sounds worse than it is (but not by much).

To cook:

  • Put raw meat in the top slot.

  • Use Ash Logs as fuel in the middle slot.

  • Don’t overcook it unless you like crunchy rat.

Pro tip: Don’t carry everything. Weight matters. Travel light or stash stuff at little bases you build along the way.

Making Your First Crafting Table

To build a Crafting Table, grab:

  • 4x Ash Logs

Easy enough. Talk to Doric near the starting area to unlock the recipe. This station lets you make:

  • Axes

  • Pickaxes

  • Clubs

Basically, the starter kit for any self-respecting adventurer who wants to survive longer than five minutes.

How to Craft Runes (The Good Stuff)

This is where it gets magical. Once you meet Zanik and hand her 50 Ash Logs (she’s a little demanding), she’ll give you the recipe for the Rune Altar and a Pickaxe.

You’ll use that Pickaxe to mine Runic Essence from glowing purple Rune Geisers scattered around. Gather:

  • 12x Stone

  • 4x Rune Essence

Build your Rune Altar and start cranking out magic ammo. Basic Runes like Air and Fire are used for spellcasting and even gathering resources (you’ll eventually unlock spells like Rocksplosion—yes, really).

Keep your Rune stash stocked. Runes don’t weigh much, but they are lifelines. You don’t want to run out mid-fight and start throwing rocks instead of fireballs.

Bonus Stations You’ll Want Later

As you go further, crafting opens up. These are worth unlocking:

  • Spinning Wheel (after collecting Flax) – For clothes and thread-related things.

  • Alchemy Bench – For converting weird materials into even weirder items.

  • Repair Bench – Because gear breaks. A lot.

You’ll find more as you go, and each one makes you slightly less helpless in the big, dangerous world of Ashenfall.

Final Blurb

Crafting in RuneScape: Dragonwilds starts off humble. You’ll burn a few rats, build tables with twigs, and carry way too much stuff because you thought “encumbrance” was just a fancy word. But soon you’ll be tossing fire runes like confetti and living like a forest wizard with a house made of ash logs.

You’ll get there. Just don’t forget to feed yourself. Or your campfire.
