What’s a Rune Altar?
The Rune Altar is basically a magical crafting bench. You’ll need one if you want to start using spells or complete early game quests like Rune Mysteries. You’ll use it to craft runes, which are the fuel for magic weapons and abilities.
How to Build a Rune Altar in Dragon Wilds
You’ll find the option to build the Rune Altar in the regular Build Menu, right next to the Crafting Table.
You’ll need:
12x Stone – Pick up rocks or mine boulders.
4x Rune Essence – Mine glowing blue rocks near Rune sites (there’s some right next to Zanik early on).
Once you’ve got the materials, place it down like you would any other crafting station. That’s it—you’ve got yourself a little piece of the arcane.
What Can You Craft?
Right now, you can use the Rune Altar to make:
Air Runes
Astral Runes
These are used to cast basic spells or act as ammo for magic weapons. Just make sure to have the right rune selected in your inventory—some magic staves let you switch the rune type by right-clicking the rune.
Rune Mysteries Quest Help
Zanik’s Rune Mysteries quest is basically your magic tutorial. She’ll ask you to mine some Rune Essence and turn them into Air and Astral Runes at your Rune Altar. Give her a few of each, and you’re good to go. The next stop is a ruined settlement with an old man—so yeah, things escalate quickly.
