Half Sword All Ranks: List of All Ranks in the Game

Half Sword All Ranks: List of All Ranks in the Game

Half Sword uses a clear rank ladder that defines enemy difficulty, gear access, and progression rules. There are 9 total ranks, starting at Beggar and ending at The Baron. You move up by winning fights, earning points, and defeating each rank’s Champion in Gauntlet mode.

Each rank changes how the game feels. Gear improves, enemies get smarter, and mistakes become more expensive.

How Rank Progression Works In Half Sword

In Gauntlet mode, you always start at Beggar and climb upward. To advance, you must earn enough points by winning matches, then defeat the Champion tied to your current rank.

Points are gained from wins, and you earn bonus points if you choose lower tier loadouts. Each new rank requires 1 more point than the previous one to unlock its Champion.

At the start of a new rank, you can reroll your loadout once for free. After that, rerolling costs 1 point.

If you die at Peasant rank or higher, you are sent to the Abyss. Winning there lets you keep your current rank instead of dropping.

All Half Sword Ranks In Order

Beggar

Beggar is the starting rank. Enemies are poorly equipped and fights are messy and fast. This rank teaches movement, spacing, and panic control.

Gear is minimal and survivability is low. Everyone looks broke, because they are.

Peasant

Peasant introduces slightly better weapons and more aggressive enemies. Fights last longer and stamina management starts to matter.

This is where bad habits begin to get punished. Swinging wildly stops working.

Commoner

Commoner enemies are more consistent and slightly better armored. Weapon variety increases and spacing becomes important.

This rank forces you to block, reposition, and think before committing.

Militia

Militia is the first rank where enemies feel organized. They use better weapons and punish mistakes quickly.

Armor begins to appear more often. Heavy hits start ending fights fast.

Soldier

Soldier rank increases enemy toughness and damage. Loadouts become more dangerous and fights slow down.

Positioning matters more than aggression here. Getting surrounded is usually fatal.

Veteran

Veteran enemies are experienced and unforgiving. They exploit stamina mistakes and capitalize on knockdowns.

This rank tests consistency. Sloppy play gets exposed immediately.

Man At Arms

Man at Arms introduces strong armor and reliable weapons across the board. Enemies are hard to drop and harder to finish.

This rank demands patience and control. Short fights are rare.

Knight

Knight rank is where Half Sword becomes brutal. Enemies are heavily armored and deal serious damage.

You must manage stamina, spacing, and timing perfectly. One mistake can end a run.

The Baron

The Baron is the final rank and is not available by default. It is unlocked by beating The Ultimate Challenge.

This rank represents peak difficulty. Enemies are powerful, well equipped, and relentless.

Gauntlet Mode Versus Free Mode

Gauntlet mode is the intended progression path. Enemies scale properly and death has consequences.

Free mode lets you select any rank except The Baron right away. Enemies are weaker and progression pressure is removed.

Free mode is best for practice. Gauntlet is where ranks actually matter.

Final Blurb

Half Sword’s rank system defines the entire experience. Each step upward raises the stakes, sharpens enemy behavior, and limits mistakes. If you want real progression, Gauntlet mode is the climb that matters. By the time you reach Knight and beyond, the game stops forgiving anything.
