The Granite Maul is a massive melee weapon in RuneScape: Dragonwilds that hits like a boulder—but getting it isn’t as simple as crafting from materials. It’s locked behind a multi-step questline, a dungeon, and a dwarven blueprint translation, but worth teh effort since it is a classic just like the Abyssal Whip.
Here’s how to craft the Granite Maul in RuneScape: Dragon Wilds
Step 1: Start the Quest – “Granite Mold”
Head to Doric the Dwarf, found near Ashen’s Watch.
Talk to him to start the Granite Mold questline, which sends you toward a hidden dungeon entrance under the tower.
Step 2: Light the Four Statues
The dungeon door is locked, and you need to light four nearby torches by interacting with stone statues:
One is near the dungeon door
The other three are scattered nearby—walk around the cliffs and upper ledges around Ashen’s Watch
Once all four are lit, the vault opens
Note: There’s also a weird hole nearby. You can fall into it. It is not a shortcut. Don’t ask.
Step 3: Enter the Dungeon and Defeat the Vault Overlord
Inside the vault:
Prepare for a long and brutal fight—this place is full of enemies
Bring healing potions and a ranged weapon (especially if you want to cheese the boss)
The final fight is against the Vault Overlord—a heavy-hitting boss
Once defeated, you’ll find a Dwarven weapon blueprint at the end of the vault
Step 4: Return to Doric
Bring the blueprint back to Doric.
He’ll translate it and give you the Granite Maul Head. This unlocks the crafting recipe for the full weapon.
Step 5: Craft the Granite Maul
The Granite Maul requires three separate parts:
Maul Head – From the vault quest
Handle – Crafted at the Smithing Anvil using standard materials
Leather Wrappings – Also crafted at a workstation
Once all parts are crafted, combine them to complete the Granite Maul.
Stats:
Damage: 66–95
Special Ability: Battering Ram
Can be enchanted (e.g., with Air Runes) to speed up attack animations
Final Blurb
The Granite Maul is slow, heavy, and it hits hard. It's not necessarily the best weapon, but it sure packs a punch.
