Iron Ore is one of the most important resources once you’re past the early-game copper and tin phase. It’s used for crafting stronger weapons, armor, and key workstations—but getting it means you’ll have to leave the cozy starter zones behind.

Here’s exactly where to find Iron Ore and what you’ll need to mine it.

Where to Find Iron Ore in Dragon Wilds

  • Region: Stormtouched Highlands

  • This is one of the most dangerous areas in the game

  • Enemies here are tough, and the terrain is rough

  • Bring solid gear and healing items before heading in

Tool Requirements

  • You’ll need a Bronze Pickaxe or better

  • Stone and Bone Pickaxes will not work on Iron

  • Bronze Pickaxes can be made after smelting Tin and Copper Ore into Bronze Bars

Tips for Mining Iron Safely

  • Use Detect Ore to locate veins faster

  • Place a Lodestone nearby in case things go south

  • Clear out enemies first, or mine from elevated ground if possible

  • Keep Antipoison and Healing Potions on hand—especially if you’re passing through Bloodblight Swamp on the way

What Iron Ore is Used For

  • Smelt into Iron Bars at a Furnace

  • Used in mid-tier weapons and armor

  • Required for crafting upgrades like the Loom Harness, Granite Maul, and Studded Leather Gear

  • Also drops Jade at a very rare rate when mined

Final Blurb

Iron Ore is the upgrade path for just about everything that matters once you leave the beginner zones. But Stormtouched Highlands isn’t a friendly neighborhood—it’s more of a high-stakes trip with metal rewards. Get in, mine fast, get out. Or stay longer if you enjoy being chased.
