How to Handle Employees Stealing in Schedule 1
If your handlers or other employees are suddenly acting like they’ve turned to a life of crime and disappearing your product, we’re here to help. This is a known bug in Schedule 1 and nobody knows why. Here’s a breakdown of solutions that have worked for players, though it seems to be a bit random at times.

What the Bug Looks Like
Employee grabs items but never delivers them.
A shelf slot gets “locked” during the transfer and never unlocks.
After saving and reloading, the items are gone.
It can affect handlers, botanists, mixers—any role that moves product… But mostly handlers.
Fixes That Work (Sometimes)
1. Fire and Rehire Them
Go to your employee list and hit the fire button. Replacing them with someone new often resets their behavior. Many players say this is the most reliable fix.
2. Save at the Motel, Then Reload
Save your game manually at the motel, quit to the main menu, and load it back up. This resets some background systems and has helped people restore functionality (and their shelves).
3. Delete and Recreate Assignments
Clear all of the employee’s routes and tasks, save and reload, then assign them again from scratch. This has worked for some players, especially when a shelf slot was bugged.
4. Avoid Standing Near Them While They're Working
Strangely, standing near or interacting with the same shelf they're using can mess things up. Give them space when working.
5. Move Beds and Furniture Away From Workstations
Several players found that if a bed, trash can, or other object is placed too close to the shelf or workstation, it can cause pathing issues and break their logic.
6. Skateboard Jump Reset
Equip a skateboard and jump directly into the employee. This sometimes jolts them back into working like normal. Weird? Yes. Effective? Also yes.
What Doesn’t Work
Beating them with a bat (sometimes funny, rarely helps)
Reassigning the route without a reload
Waiting it out (they won’t suddenly fix themselves)
Final Blurb
Until the devs patch this properly, your best bet is to rotate employees like a boss on probation. Keep an eye on handlers, and if one of them starts pocketing your bricks, it’s time for a “staff restructure.” Save often, trust no one, and maybe keep a shovel handy…Just in case.
