How to Save in Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days

There’s no manual save button in Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days. The game handles saving on its own—and it does it with survival in mind. According to players (and from how the game works), it autosaves at the end of every day/night cycle.

This save system is built around the game’s permadeath and resource scarcity. If you could save at will, it would undercut the whole point—every decision is supposed to matter. If someone dies during a phase, the game saves that outcome. There's no going back unless you quit before the phase ends.

Again, there is no way to save manually, and no in-phase autosaves. If you're out scavenging and make a huge mistake, you either live with it or exit the game before it finishes that part of the day.

Final Blurb

The game saves when the day is done—not when you're ready. You can't cheat it, rewind it, or hug your survivors until things magically fix themselves. So think twice before chasing one last can of food into a dark, zombie-filled basement. The game’s watching.
