How to Start the Bonus Quest in Assassin’s Creed Shadows (Thrown to the Dogs)

Pre-ordered Assassin’s Creed Shadows? Nice. That means you get access to an exclusive side quest called Thrown to the Dogs. It’s short, easy, and your reward is a loyal little dog named Tsuki-maru—plus a nice XP boost to help you early in the game. Let’s get into it.

Step 1: Complete the Prologue and Unlock Your Hideout

Before you can start this quest, you need to finish the prologue and unlock the hideout system. This is important because Tsuki-maru will be part of your hideout once the quest is done. After you’ve got your base up and running, you’re ready to go find your new furry friend.

Step 2: Find Tsuki-maru on the Hill

Travel to Izumi Settsu, east of Osaka, and head to Tennoji Temple. From there, go west up the hill. At the top, you’ll find Tsuki-maru, an injured dog resting by a grave. Interact with him to start the quest.

Step 3: Follow Tsuki-maru and Recover the Key

After the quest begins, follow Tsuki-maru to a nearby farm. He’ll lead the way, so just stick with him. Once there, crawl under a house to find a key, then return to the gravesite. That’s the whole quest—it only takes about 5 to 10 minutes, and it’s a peaceful little moment in the world of Shadows.

Your Reward: Tsuki-maru and 1,000 XP

Here’s what you get for completing the quest:

  • 1,000 XP, which gives you a solid boost early on.

  • Tsuki-maru as a pet in your hideout.

While pets in Shadows are more for decoration than action, Tsuki-maru adds some life to your base. He’s a sweet touch, and you can place him wherever you like to help make your hideout feel a little more like home.

Final Blurb

Thrown to the Dogs isn’t a long or tough quest—but it’s a calm and touching little adventure, and Tsuki-maru is a great reward. He won’t fight by your side, but he’ll always be there at your base, reminding you that not all heroes need to bite.
