How to Unlock Yasuke in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

So you’re playing Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and you’re wondering: “Where’s Yasuke? I want to smash things now.” Well, hold your horses (literally, you’ll be riding one soon enough), because you won’t unlock Yasuke for a while.

When Do You Get Yasuke?

  • You start the game as Naoe, the sneaky shinobi.

  • You won’t get to play as Yasuke until about 10 hours into the game.

  • Yes, 10 hours. That’s not a typo. He’s fashionably late.

What You Have to Do First:

  1. Play through the intro and early main quests as Naoe.

  2. You’ll get two assassination targets early on. Take them both out.

  3. After that, the game finally decides you’ve earned Yasuke.

Why Unlocking Yasuke Matters:

  • Naoe = sneaky, stealthy, allergic to heavy combat.

  • Yasuke = absolute tank who laughs at enemy swords and wrecks castle guards like it's leg day.

  • Once you unlock Yasuke, you can swap between both characters and the game world actually opens up with more sidequests, faction targets, and gear.

Final Blurb

If you’re tired of tiptoeing around as Naoe and just want to crash through doors as Yasuke, stay focused on the main quest. Don’t get distracted by bandit camps and empty fields. Yasuke is worth the wait—but it is a long wait, so maybe grab a snack or seven.
