Mecha BREAK: How to Play with Friends

So, you’ve jumped into Mecha BREAK, hyped to tear through the battlefield with your friends—only to realize the game isn’t exactly making that easy. Invites aren’t working, the friend list is acting up, and you’re wondering if you’re just missing something obvious.

Don’t worry. You’re not alone. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to actually squad up with friends in Mecha BREAK, despite the game doing its best to stop you.

Step 1: Complete the Tutorial (Yes, You Have To)

Before you can play multiplayer, you must finish the tutorial. This means:
✔ Playing through a single-player prologue mission (yes, it’s mandatory).
✔ Completing two tutorial matches (a 6v6 game and a Mashmak PvPvE match).
✔ Unlocking access to the main menu.

If you’re stuck in a loop where the game keeps dropping you back into the story mode, it’s a bug. Restart the game and try again—it should eventually let you progress.

Step 2: The (Broken) Friend System

Now that you’re in the main game, you probably want to add your friends and invite them to your squad. Sounds simple, right? Wrong.

The Problem:

  • Inviting friends directly doesn’t work sometimes. Clicking “invite” does nothing.

  • The friend list is bugged. Many players report getting a "no relevant info found" error.

  • Region restrictions may apply. If your friend is on a different server, you might not be able to play together. (You can check or change servers in the launcher, to the left of the "Start Game" button.)

The Workaround: Recruitment System

Since the normal invite system is busted, here’s what you need to do:

  1. Go to the bottom-right of the screen and click “Recruit.”

  2. This opens squad recruitment, allowing your friends to find and join your squad manually.

  3. Once they’re in your squad, you should be able to add each other to your friend list.

This method works for most players, even if the direct invite feature is broken.

Step 3: Alternative Ways to Team Up

If recruitment isn’t working, here are some other options:

1. Add Friends by Callsign

Some players have managed to add friends using their in-game Callsign instead of the usual invite system. To try this:

  • Open the friend menu.

  • Enter your friend’s Callsign manually.

  • If it works, they’ll appear on your list (eventually).

2. Use the “Looking for Group” (LFG) System

Another method is to:

  • Post an LFG request in-game.

  • Have your friends join your posted group rather than relying on direct invites.

This isn't ideal, but it can work when other methods fail.

Step 4: Region Restrictions – Can You Play with Friends in Different Regions?

If your friend isn’t appearing in the recruitment list, you might be on different servers.

  • Mecha BREAK does not currently support cross-server play.

  • If you and your friend want to play together, you must select the same server in the launcher before starting the game.

To check or change your server:

  1. Open the game launcher.

  2. Look to the left of the “Start Game” button.

  3. Click on the server name and select the one your friends are using.

This should allow you to match up in the same lobby.

Step 5: Once You’re in a Squad

If everything works and your friends successfully join your squad:
✔ The squad leader can queue up for matches, and you’ll stay together.
✔ You’ll enter games as a team instead of random solo players.
✔ You can finally enjoy the game as it was meant to be played.

(Assuming, of course, the game doesn’t randomly boot you back to the menu. No promises.)

Summary

Right now, Mecha BREAK isn’t making it easy to play with friends, but there are ways around the broken systems.

Use the “Recruit” button to let friends join manually.
Try adding them via Callsign.
Use the LFG system if needed.
Make sure you’re on the same server.

Hopefully, the devs will fix the invite system soon. Until then, enjoy the chaos—and try not to explode too quickly.
