MegaBonk Rarities Guide | Item Rarities Explained

Wondering what rarities mean in MegaBonk and how they affect your builds? Rarity is the system that decides how strong an item is, how hard it is to unlock, and how much it can swing a run in your favor. Note, you can see the full list of items and their rarities here.

What Are Item Rarities in MegaBonk

Items in MegaBonk are divided into five rarity tiers: Default, Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary. Each tier controls the item’s strength, its unlock requirement, and its overall influence on gameplay.

Default items form your starter pool, Commons unlock quickly and give basic boosts, Rares add stronger effects, Epics bring major scaling, and Legendaries are the most powerful and game-changing.

Default Items

Default items are unlocked from the start. They offer consistent and easy-to-use effects like Luck from Clover or flat damage from Gym Sauce. These items are simple, but they lack the power and synergy of higher tiers.

Common Items

Common items expand your build early on. They give straightforward boosts such as Crit Chance, Attack Speed, or Movement Speed. Many unlock by hitting small objectives, like upgrading a tome to level 5 or killing a set number of enemies.

Rare Items

Rare items bring stronger mechanics and specialized utility. They are tied to more specific quests, such as beating minibosses quickly or farming shrines. Echo Shard and Phantom Shroud are examples that add new ways to farm XP or deal bonus damage.

Epic Items

Epic items introduce heavy scaling and unique playstyles. They often cause on-hit explosions, convert stats into new bonuses, or give strong survival tools. They are unlocked through harder goals like surviving Final Swarm timers, reaching level milestones, or large kill counts.

Legendary Items

Legendary items sit at the top of the rarity system. They are rare, game-breaking, and usually tied to major achievements like clearing bosses without damage, hitting level 50, or lasting through extreme swarms. Chonkplate, Joe’s Dagger, and Za Warudo are prime examples that can turn runs into leaderboard pushes.

Rarities in MegaBonk are more than labels, they define the entire curve of your run.
