Under Legion (Spreading Spores)
This is the mushroom clan... literally.
Their whole gimmick is spreading spores and stacking status effects. Think poison, regen, and other stacking damage-over-time mechanics. The more you spread, the more you win.
Strength: Excellent for attrition. If the enemy doesn’t burst you down early, they’ll rot before reaching your Pyre.
Playstyle Tip: Frontline with a tanky regen unit, then just stack shrooms and stall. Use rooms to double-spread effects or ramp up decay damage.
Weakness: Slow ramp. You will lose if you can’t hold the line early.
Lazarus League (Mad Scientists)
The science freaks. This clan is big on mixing components, combining buffs, and making weird things happen.
They specialize in grafting abilities and upgrades onto other units, which means you can break the game... or break yourself.
Strength: Flexibility. You can make nearly any unit viable with the right experiments.
Playstyle Tip: Go all-in on synergy. Pick a theme early (energy, spell buffs, etc.), then double down on stacking that combo with upgrades and room effects.
Weakness: Misbuilds are common. It’s easy to end up with nothing that works together.
Banished (Fallen Angels)
This is the armored melee clan with a side of magic. Banished units hit hard, take hits well, and have a more straightforward setup.
Their specialty is damage boosts, armor, and straight-up beating enemies into ash.
Strength: Great at early pressure. Your units scale fast and hit harder than most.
Playstyle Tip: Put your Champion up front and let them carry. Buff from the back and use spells to clean up.
Weakness: Can fall off late if not upgraded right. Needs good backline or heal support.
Pyreborne (Treasure-Hunting Dragons)
Big dragons, big damage, and piles of loot. Pyreborne are flashy, fire-breathing beasts who snowball fast when built correctly.
They lean into ember generation and gold bonuses... and yeah, they burn things too.
Strength: Burst damage and treasure hunting. Can snowball if you get a strong early artifact.
Playstyle Tip: Get ember-generating units and build around big-cost spells or units. Keep ramping gold and use it immediately at shops.
Weakness: Ember-hungry. If you whiff your economy or don’t find ember relics, your hand gets stuck.
Luna Coven (Spellcasting Witches)
Moon-powered magic casters. They use weird buffs, control, and spell effects that can turn an ordinary deck into chaos incarnate.
This clan is less about brute force and more about clever plays and battlefield control.
Strength: Spell loops and spell power. Some of the best support options in the game.
Playstyle Tip: Focus on scaling spell power and room effects. You want to avoid direct fights and win through stacking buffs, control, or death by a thousand burns.
Weakness: Fragile units. You need to play smart or things will collapse fast.
Final Blurb & FAQ
Monster Train 2 has a seriously deep clan system, and picking the right one comes down to how much brainpower you want to spend per run.
If you’re looking for fast hits, go Banished or Pyreborne. If you want that high-IQ fungal math win, Under Legion and Luna Coven are your playground.
Lazarus League... well, they’re for chaos lovers. Or madmen.
