OSRS Dragon Hook Guide
Old School RuneScape (OSRS)

The dragon salvaging hook is the strongest salvaging tool in Sailing, so knowing how to build it, boost for it, and use it at sea saves you a ton of time on shipwreck runs.

What The Dragon Salvaging Hook Does

The dragon salvaging hook is a high tier facility you install on your boat. You deploy it at shipwrecks to pull up resources. It works like other hooks, but with better stats, faster pulls, and higher tier wreck options.

How To Build The Dragon Salvaging Hook

You need 86 Sailing and 78 Construction to build the hook. You also need the dragon salvaging hook schematic from the lockbox on Lledrith Island. Once you read the schematic, the hotspot unlocks. You must have a hammer and a saw in your inventory while building.

Here are the materials you need.

  • Rosewood plank x4

  • Dragon nails x16

  • Dragon metal sheet x6

  • Rope x1

  • Cupronickel bar x4

  • Broken dragon hook x1

Boosting For Construction And Use

You can boost to build the hook, but this facility has a special rule. You must keep the required Sailing level boosted while using it at sea. If your level drops below the requirement, the hook stops working until you boost again.

Crewmates follow the same rule. You need a crewmate with deckhandiness 4 to operate the dragon hook. Only Cabin Boy Jenkins reaches deckhandiness 4. Boost your Sailing level, assign him, and keep your boosts active so he stays assigned. A keg with whirlpool surprise helps you maintain the boost.

Salvaging Hook Stat Tiers

All salvaging hooks follow a tier system. The dragon hook sits at the top.

  • Bronze hook needs Sailing 15, Construction 1, Deckhandiness 1

  • Iron hook needs Sailing 21, Construction 9, Deckhandiness 1

  • Steel hook needs Sailing 27, Construction 18, Deckhandiness 1

  • Mithril hook needs Sailing 44, Construction 30, Deckhandiness 2

  • Adamant hook needs Sailing 59, Construction 52, Deckhandiness 2

  • Rune hook needs Sailing 74, Construction 66, Deckhandiness 3

  • Dragon hook needs Sailing 86, Construction 78, Deckhandiness 4

Final Blurb

The dragon salvaging hook is a late game upgrade that makes shipwreck runs smoother and faster. As long as you keep your boosts active and Jenkins on the hook, you turn every wreck into easy loot.
