OSRS Grid Master Free to Play (F2P) Guide & Tips

Trying to clear Grid Master on a free account. You can finish the entire middle column, plus a few middle row tiles, and the rewards are real.

What can F2P complete in Grid Master

Free players can complete every tile in the middle column, and these middle row tiles, Gain over 30,000 coins from one Alchemy spell, Equip any boots from the Stronghold of Security, Complete the Vampyre Slayer quest. Finishing the middle column grants a permanent 200 percent XP boost for all skills. The middle row has its own 200 percent XP reward if you finish that whole row, but only some of it is F2P.

F2P task list, tile by tile

Complete the Grid Master tutorial, choose one of Power Miner, Lumberjack, Animal Wrangler
Kill an Ogress, task is in Corsair Cove Dungeon, The Corsair Curse is auto unlocked
Reach a total level of 500, this also gives a 25,000 XP lamp for any skill
Chop maple logs, unlocks another choice between the three early tools
Mine gold ore, unlocks another choice between the three early tools
Open Bryophyta’s chest, defeat Bryophyta with a Mossy key then loot the chest
Defeat the lesser demon in the Wizards’ Tower, the queue boss tile
Gain over 30,000 coins from one Alchemy spell, unlocks Production Prodigy
Equip any boots from the Stronghold of Security, unlocks Fairy’s Flight
Complete the Vampyre Slayer quest, auto completes Sins of the Father for the event
Reach 1,500 total level, gives a 100,000 XP lamp, technically possible in F2P since Echo Axe lets you train Fletching

Clean F2P route that actually flows

Early unlocks first, then mobility

Do the tutorial, take Power Miner or Lumberjack
Run Stronghold of Security, grab boots, unlock Fairy’s Flight teleports
Kill an Ogress in Corsair Cove Dungeon, easy early combat tile with protection prayers

Push both tool tiles

Train to 45 Woodcutting, chop maple logs, take a second tool
Train to 40 Mining, mine gold ore, take the third tool you are missing

Set up money and lamps

Alch for 30,000 plus in a single cast, buy rune platelegs or plateskirt at the Champion’s Guild, buy at least three, High Alchemy has no level cost with the Production Prodigy unlock in this mode
Claim the 25,000 XP lamp at 500 total, bank it for an awkward skill or use it to hit a requirement tile

Boss and column finisher

Farm a Mossy key from moss giants, open Bryophyta’s chest, this also advances Combat Masteries
Defeat the lesser demon in the Wizards’ Tower, finish the middle column for the 200 percent XP reward
With the boost active, push toward 1,500 total, Echo Axe allows Fletching so the total is reachable on F2P

Methods that work on a fresh F2P grid

Alch 30,000 in one spell

Champion’s Guild sells rune platelegs and plateskirts, buy three, High Alch one after another
Stand near a bank or altar to chain other actions while the auto cast cycles

Mossy key basics for Bryophyta

Kill moss giants in F2P areas, Varrock sewers, Edgeville Dungeon, south of Varrock
Use prayer to reduce food use, Fairy’s Flight speeds the loops, Bryophyta’s chest is the actual tile gate

Fast levels to hit 500 then 1,500

Mining and Smithing together, bronze to iron to steel bars, use the 200 percent XP boost once you have it
Woodcutting into Firemaking or Fletching with Echo Axe
Cooking from purchased raw food, Fishing for early totals if you want passive gains
Magic from safe splashing or alching while skilling, Ranged from ogress safespots if you want drops

Multiple picks between Power Miner, Lumberjack, Animal Wrangler as you clear their tiles
Production Prodigy from the 30,000 alch tile
Fairy’s Flight from Stronghold boots
25,000 and 100,000 XP lamps from 500 and 1,500 totals
